Chapter 2As far as first dates went, Lloyd had had better. By the time he left Dishman’s, he wasn’t even sure if he could call what little time he’d shared with Doug a date. Sure, they had a bite to eat—those loaded fries turned out to be decadently delicious—and they’d both downed a few beers, but it could’ve been an evening out with a friend for all that happened between them. Which was nothing. Talking about his soon-to-be ex-wife appeared to be the bulk of Doug’s material, and nothing else Lloyd asked about seemed to interest him much. They made small talk, or Lloyd tried to, at least, asking questions that only earned him one word answers in response.
