“Guess what?” Hannah said. Without waiting for a response, she said, “I did it!”
Nathaniel set his messenger bag on the floor and kicked off a pair of loafers badly in need of a shoe shine. He looked over Hannah’s shoulder, but the house looked the same as it had when he’d rushed out the door fifteen minutes late for work.
She was clapping and jumping up and down.
She did it.
That could only mean one thing.
Wrapping his arms around his beautiful wife, he lifted her into the air. “You did it!”
“I did it!” she cried. “Can you believe it? I finally did it!”
“You found a job!”
Hannah went limp in his arms and then squirmed away like a cat. Her voice sounded deeper and a little confused when she said, “No.”
