Chapter 16 Nathaniel’s heart jumped into his throat when he heard that familiar click-snap of the front door opening. If he’d been a rabbit, his ears would have perked and revolved like satellites to hone in on the source. Hannah was home. His groin and his chest pulsed in unison, in a way that made him wonder if he might drop dead in the next three seconds. Why was it so hard to breathe? Hannah would be overjoyed by this surprise.
