CHAPTER ELEVEN Kyra raced through the snow, brushing back the thick branches in her way, the dragon’s cry still echoing in her ears, and burst into a clearing, when she suddenly stopped short. All of her anticipation could not prepare her for what she saw before her. Her breath was taken away—not by the blizzard or the cold or the wind—but this time by the sight, unlike anything she’d seen in her life. She had heard the tales, night after night in her father’s chamber, the ancient legends of dragons, and had wondered if they were true.
