God why is life so flipping hard? God she missed cursing, she looked down at her three children, one boy and two girls, eating cereal. She ran around them trying to get everything together for their first day of school, she got their book bags, she checked to make sure they had their supplies in them. Declan started whining, “What is it baby?” She walked up to her 6 year old son and started patting his head. Declan was having a real hard time with the move to Colorado, and she was really regretting it. Declan was Just diagnosed as autistic, he had been doing so well at his school, but her ex had received an amazing job opportunity that they really couldn’t pass up. Well they didn’t think they could pass up at the time, now she wasn’t sure if it was the best decision looking at her son. While her son was nonverbal autistic she knew him very well, his slight whines meant his was anxious, he knew today was the first day of school. While they had toured the school, and spent some time with his teachers, it was still something new for him. Today was Declan’s first day of first grade, it was Lili’s first day of kindergarten, and Aurora’s first day of pre-K. Yes she had her kids super close together. Did she regret it? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Arianna loved that all of her kids were now out of diapers, there were very few sleepless nights anymore. That is what she lived the most about having her kids close together. What she didn’t like was the constant fighting, especially the oldest and the youngest. Arianna and Oliver had their children very close together, Declan and Liliana were Irish twins, and by the time I got pregnant with aurora I knew it was the end of our marriage. Aurora was two months old the first time Oliver cheated, I didn’t find out until she was four months old but the damage was done. We had split up, we spent a year apart before trying to get back together and giving it another shot, and we both tried we really did but we just didn’t make each other happy. We wanted to split but we couldn’t afford it, until he got this job offer. The job offer is close to eight figures, with the new pay we were able to find a home for me and the kids as well as one close by for him. Oliver would come over pretty much every day unless he had a hard day of work. It was amazing but then again it wasn’t. To see him day in and day out, to be there for the kids and be there for them, but not for her. It was so hard, but that was her life was it not? “Okay kids time to go.” She grabbed their bags and started loading the kids into the car. As usual by the time she was leaving one kid was crying and she was sweating. “Aurora, please stop crying it’s time to go.” “Okay mommy.” Rory stopped crying. “I love you Rory,” “I love you too mommy,” Rory replied with a smile on her face. Arianna looked in the rear view mirror and her heart melted a little. That little girl was just too smart for her own good. They drove the short distance, mostly in silence. Arianna could hear Lili talking to herself all the way in the back. The pre-k and elementary school were in different buildings so she had to drop off the older two first as their drop off time was earlier. The three kids walked to the elementary. Ariana got the kids settled in to their special education classrooms, she made sure the teachers had her number and walked out with Aurora. She sent Aurora off to school and went back to her new home and started to continue to unload boxes. Ariana was tired of unloading boxes after the first hour, needless to say she wasn’t the best housekeeper there ever was. However she persevered and continued working but after hour three she was over it. She decided to take a break, she laid down on the couch for a while just vegging out. After about an hour she decided to get up and grab something to eat, she didn’t have anything in the fridge other than milk and cereal for the kids breakfast, she needed to do some grocery shopping as well. She saw a little bakery just a few blocks away from the grocery store and headed there for a quick bit to eat. Arianna sat at the small cafe with her scone and mocha macchiato while checking her email. D*mn the WiFi wouldn’t be set up until next week. She couldn’t afford to come here every day. She was stressing about that when she noticed a little boy walking about the counter area. Arianna put down the phone and noticed that he wasn’t with anything, maybe his mom or dad was in the bathroom. That was highly irresponsible, but we all make mistakes, Arianna picked up her phone again but kept an eye on the boy. He was the cutest little boy, about Rory’s age from what she could tell. A few minutes had passed when she decided to approach him. Arianna came up to him, and squatted down to him so they were at eye level. “Hey little man, where is your momma?” “Momma is in heaven.” He said simply and wasn’t that a punch to the gut. “Okay what about your daddy?” That caused the little boy to cry and he said, “I don’t know, we got separated.” “Oh I’m so sorry baby, come here.” She wrapped the poor little thing in a hug and the little boy cried. “Hey don’t worry we will find him, why did you come in here?” Ari tried to soothe the little boy. “We come in here sometimes, I always get a scone and hot cocoa.” The boy was calming down as he talked. “Okay let’s ask the cashier.” “Hey ma’am?” The lady manning the register came over. “This little boy is lost, but he says he comes in all the time, do you know him?” The cashier gave her a sad smile and said, “I’m sorry I just started two days ago, I wouldn’t recognize him even he had come in.” “Well is there anyone else who may recognize him?” She suggested and the woman had an ‘ah-ha’ moment. “Oh duh my supervisor should be in within fifteen minutes.” “Do you think you can wait that long buddy or do you want to go to the police?” The little boy looked torn. “Okay how about this, you pick a pastry and we will get you a hot cocoa and by the time you are done if she isn’t here we can call them, what do you say?” “Deal,” he says with a smile. The cashier rang him up an apple fritter and a hot cocoa and the two went back to the table to sit down and eat it. “So what’s your name little man?” “Aiden, what’s your name?” “Arianna, I almost gave my son that name.” She mentioned and his face lit up with a smile. “You have a son?” “Yup I have three children, four, five, and six my son is the oldest.” “I’m four too!” Aiden shouts victoriously. Arianna smiles when some one walks up to the table. “Hey Vicky!” Aiden says giving her a small wave. “Aiden what are you doing here, your father is worried sick!” The woman yells and Aiden shrinks back. Ari goes into her mama bear mode and stands up to protect her new charge. “Aiden you know this women?” “I should be asking you that.” The woman gets in her face. “Excuse me ma’am?” Arianna was starting to feel uncomfortable and didn’t do best with confrontation so she decided she better take him to the police. “Come on Aiden we better go to the police.” Aiden just shrugged his shoulders and let Arianna pick him up. “You aren’t leaving with him, his father is on the way.” Arianna thought to stop, but the strange woman tried to take the little boy from him and she reacted by not allowing this. She backed away when the woman started to attack him. “What the hell is going on here.” “Alpha.” “Dad” “Mate”
