The journey started with silence at first as they rode into the woods past the outskirts of the town's borders. Helia took a quick glance at the sky and gave smacked her lips realizing the sun was beginning to come out and the birds were starting their usual morning tones. Arriving to the three paths which lead to each of its own path seemed to have put their journey temporarily to a halt. Helia stared om at the three paths confused on what direction to follow.
"What now?" She asked Jack. Jack had his eyes fixed on the map all along trying to understand what he was actually figuring out. The map seemed too complex for him to understand but who was he to disappoint Helia. Of course, he won't say anything about being a terrible map reader. He certainly won't say anything about his uncle preventing him got going on any further trips with him due to his inability to read and understand maps. His sister threw him a suspicious stare.
"Since when do you start reading maps? I thought you were bad at them" She asked giving him a doubtful stare.
"I will figure this out. No worries. Let's follow the middle path" He chose with an unsure tone. Helia nodded. She rode her horse along the path without thinking if his choices were right or wrong. The beautiful scenery view of the forest was beginning to unveil itself. One who saw the beauty within this abandoned region would be fascinated by how beautiful nature was.
"This place is beautiful Jack" Helia praised with an emotional tone. "Mr Drax had told me yesterday that the right path would feel your senses with the right optimistic feeling. I have a good feeling we are passing the correct way" She continued.
"I told you i was good with maps" Jack boasted feigning a sincere look. His sister threw him a doubtful look but ignored anyways realizing she knew nothing about his recent research. He had been doing lts of research on places recently especially the forgotten cities, perhaps he must have learnt a thing or more about maps when researching on those, she felt. She was wrong. Jack felt a whole burden of guilt overwhelm him as he realized he had only gotten the first path by chance. The middle path was marked on the map. He'd remember his uncle tell him last month that the start of any journey begins with a map at the start point. They had started the journey following the right path but would they get to the destination eventually because they would definitely be passing more crossroads.
"What makes you think the Golden Queen will let you into the everlasting Paradise since she had never let in anyone?" Jack asked.
"To every other person, i might be a mere regular human being but to her, i am an equal due to the amount of powers she gave him"
"It's kind of funny how you boast about your powers but you never show them. Are you sure you aren't exaggerating Helia?" This question Jack asked stirred a hot wave of rage in Helia as she angrily halted her horse with force. Jack widen his eyes realizing he had pissed her off. "You don't have to take it the wrong way Helia. I was saying because nowadays people believe more of what they see than hear"
"SO JACK, ALMOST BLOWING MY HEADS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHILE BEING CONTROLLED BY AN INNER DEMON WHO WOULDN'T CONSIDER YOU WORTHY TO BE A MASTER IS NOT ENOUGH PROOF RIGHT?!" She yelled at him in anger.
"Oooo...chill Helia. You are getting really angry." Jack tried calming her down as his horse began to neigh in fright.
"No i won't chill! No one ever listens to me! I thought you were my friend. I expect you to trust me no matter what!" She continued verging her frustration on him. A strong wind began blowing strongly causing the sky to darken and the trees to sway side to side due to the great impact by the wind. The more she yelled, the more the wind got stronger. Suddenly they realize a large ball of pink flames forming from her palm.
"Helia! I believe you. I swear! Please don't unlease that inner demon" Jack pleaded getting down the horse and approaching her slowly.
"You do?" She asked with a now calm tone.
"I promise. I do. I was just messing with you" He assured her taking her arms. The pink flame died down. Every where got back to normal with seconds as if nothing had happened. Dead birds came falling down the sky due to the strong toxic wind. Helia stared round at the damage she had caused and couldn't her tears anymore.
"I an a monster" She sobbed rushing off deep into the woods. Jack got confused wondering how to comfort her. He stared at Jackie with pleading eyes hoping for an assistance in calming Helia but she showed no sign of interest. In disappointment, he went after Helia. Helia fell on her feet on the ground reminiscing her last encounter with the bear. She has never been able to figure out how to get hold of her powerful self. It was almost as if she had two different personalities of hers living in her body. The thought of watching everything die and get hurt because of her emotions made her seem like a monster.
"Helia, you don't have to feel hurt. We are trying to get help for you" Jack proceeded to calm her down in the only way he knew. He hoped it worked but it never did. This made him feel really uncomfortable.
"Why won't i feel hurt? This monster in me keeps ruining everything. I am unable to control my feelings or calm myself even when the feeling of rage overwhelms me. No one should live like this. I won't let anymore creature suffer because of me. I am sure i could have just scared that bear away rather than killing it. Now this innocent birds…"
"Helia, i don't want to make you feel worse but you are too soft…" Jack had made her know with a irked look. Helia got puzzled with this statement of his and cleared her tears turning towards him.
"You said what? Is that what you should be telling me right now Jack? Did you ever feel that statement would make me feel better?"
"No. I said it to make you feel better. I only wanted to tell you the truth. You aren't just a regular human being anymore. You are going off to another dimension to defeat a powerful queen who has the powers of thousand goddesses combined together. How can you defeat her with such a soft heart Helia? You think crying before her and talking about a dead bear will make you win this battle?" Jack asked with anger. Helia said nothing. "Why do i have a feeling you will try talking her out about peace instead of just digging into her heart, the golden sword?"
"Everything doesn't always have to end with violence Jack"
"She doesn't know that. She didn't think twice before collecting your father Helia. How can you be so soft despite all this?" Jack asked in frustration.
"I don't wish to talk about this anymore" Helia ended the conversation and began walking back toward the horses. Jackie had now sat under one of the fruitless trees munching on the berries she had brought with her. She noticed the angry expression on both friends faces but said nothing. She hopped after her brother on his brown horse and continued the journey still munching her berries.
Jack struggled with getting the directions right as compared the trees in the forest with the vegetations given on the map trying to get a good landmark but he found nothing. The deeper they rode into the woods, the more the plants looked stranger to them and the more it occurred to him they were lost. Helia seemed to be feeling that way too but hadn't said anything trying not to show her doubt regarding Jack's skills. Suddenly a small tiny elf fell from the tree unto her hair pulling it hard with all its might. Another bit a deep wound on her legs causing her so much pain. More and more elves rushed toward them from different directions attacking them with their tooth and long noses.
"Wrong way! Wrong way!" Helia screamed as she pushed off an elf from her face and kicked one off her feet.
"I am sorry. I didn't want to disappoint you" Jack apologized as he hit one off him using a bat he had brought.
"You have disappointed me enough today" Helia grumbled. She punched the last one off her with her strong fist and turned the horse to the opposite direction racing toward the direction they had come.
