Tippy, as president, called the group to order. The group, however, didn’t seem to want to be called to order. The conversations and some rather loud laughing continued as Tippy frowned. Myrtle put a few carrot sticks on a napkin and headed for a chair. Tippy smiled at Myrtle approvingly. She tried calling everyone to order again, but the lively garden club members continued their raucous laughter. Finally, Myrtle tired of this. From her chair she bellowed in her best teacher voice, “Everyone, sit down, now!” downConsidering many of the gathered were Myrtle’s former students, they all froze. Then they slunk to various chairs. Tippy smiled at them all, although it seemed a bit forced. “Thank you. Today, we’re going to have a nice little talk about crepe myrtle trees.” Myrtle winced.
