Anger vibrated through Ryan as she drove home from the high school. The junior class sponsor meeting to schedule supervision of homecoming activities had not gone well. After an hour and a half of bickering over who would be chaperoning float building, Ruby Ellsworth had finally reached the end of Ryan’s patience.
“It’s difficult to schedule chaperone duties without Mr. Conner here,” Ruby had said.
“Jordan Banks isn’t here because he’s coaching middle school football, but I don’t hear you complaining about that,” Ryan had snapped. “How is that any different from Luke coaching varsity football? Besides, Luke offered to meet with us after practice, but you weren’t willing to change the meeting time so he could attend.”
