12 The custody suite was a hive of activity when Nathan and Burke returned to the station. They were held up for nearly five minutes before they were able to make it through and head up to the CID offices. “Briefing room,” Nathan called out the moment he reached the offices. While the officers and detectives under him filed into the small briefing room and took seats, Nathan picked up a thick black marker and drew a line down the middle of the white space on the board that dominated the main wall of the room. “Okay everyone, settle down,” Nathan said once everyone but Burke was in the briefing room and had seats.
