CHAPTER 5Camilla awoke to find that the yacht was pitching quite uncomfortably and, as soon as Rose had called her, she asked her to knock the door of the Baroness’s cabin and see how that lady was faring.
Rose returned with a message that the Baroness felt extremely ill and sent her apologies that she would not be able to make an appearance until the sea had subsided.
Camilla was not worried for she really preferred to be alone than to listen to the Baroness’s endless chatter about the marvels of Meldenstein and the virtues of the Princess, for whom she apparently had an almost schoolgirl devotion.
She rose, dressed herself with Rose’s assistance and sat down to write to her mother.
