Dreams coming true

1745 Words
Two Years later, May 4th Saturday, Two years have passed since I first enrolled in college. So much has happened, so much has gone through, good and bad, best and worst. And I have survived every one of those. I have in these two years, failed and learned many times. Made people mad and then made them happy. So, far I love what I do except for the part where two people want different types of flowers and none is ready to compromise. BHM Nationals is the best thing that happened to me. Although I was far away from my dream this morning, a single call from the office made my dreams come true. BHM offered three semesters of study and three semesters of internship. I am currently in the final days of my second-semester internship at the third-best event brand in the entire States of America. ‘A momento perfectum,’ located In Philadelphia. I had to shift to Pennsylvania and rent an apartment. I have been working in the firm for four months, and have a 4.7 rating, just second in lead to my Head of management of the firm. Up till now and I am very proud, have planned eleven weddings, people love to get married and ruin each other’s life; three conferences, about some boring businesses; and one concert, of a singer I never heard of; worked with two non-profit organizations in donor coordination, finally some good deeds to explain to god when I die; and yesterday got done with a small arena. All of these were done on a small scale rather than a very large one and I was confident and praised in almost all of my works. What I was looking for was a bigger opportunity and I got one this morning. I was assigned to plan a wedding, of the Knights. Well, I didn’t know who they were and when the Head of management, Harper Finn, told me, I replied with an okay, while they were expecting something more than okay, maybe a cry of joy, or seven jumps in excitement. And when I didn’t, they got awkward and I got awkward. So, I awkwardly had to google them. They turn out to be the multi-billionaires of the American continent. Working with the knights could be an opportunity of a lifetime. It was like working with Barack Obama. God, I would love to work with him. One day soon. I told myself. Maybe Barack would want to marry Michelle again. Harper told me that she was going to be working together with me, making sure things don’t go wrong and that Mr. Knight had specifically asked for me so, I make sure I continue the good impression he has of me. When I asked how he know of me, She said he was an attendee in the good deeds I did. The first thing I did was called my uncle, and he did cry in joy when I told him I was the one planning the wedding for the Knights. “OH, it must be Lyra Knight you are working with,” He told me. “Lyra Knight, The famous model,” I asked. There was no answer and I got that Steph must be nodding his head, forgetting I am not there. “You are nodding your head?” “Oh, yes,” In the combined awkwardness, Harper forgot to tell me the name on the call. But now I know, Perks of working with famous people. My eyes were almost out of their sockets and my mouth was hitting the ground. The wedding is in twenty days from now and was taking place in New York. It means I have to go back to my city yet again. I have to visit them the day after tomorrow to start. I googled some more information regarding the Knights. They were two brothers, Halton and Baron. Each married and with children. Lyra was the daughter of the younger brother Baron Knight. She got engaged to a businessman two years back, and now they were to be married, which I am given the opportunity to arrange. . . . 7th May, Tuesday. I had all of my stuff out of the bags on my bed, and I was damn sure I would be sleeping on the sofa tonight. I was in New York in my old department. The mess was me getting ready for the visit and whenever I really get ready. It is a mess. Complete chaos. I settled on a V-neck silk bottle green top, with black pants. Brushed my long hair into a ponytail. Wore a light chain and two rings. A little makeup and completing the look with pointy black stilettos with ankle straps. I believe footwear is the most important item in your look. I never compromise on my feet. Never. I love my feet. That is why I wear heels. Cause love hurts. I received a call from Harper, asking about my going, and then came a whole lot of instructions. It appeared that one wrong move and I was out. She loves to create panic in the internees, and scold them when things go wrong. She also has this habit of taking credit. The combined effect of all that made me not look forward to working with her. After twenty-five minutes, I was outside the gates of the grand mansion. I was all giddy and nervous. Obviously, they won’t let the cab inside. I got out and walked up to the gates where the extra load of guards was giving me the look. I gave them my ID, showed them my card, and answered a few quiz questions from my card and ID. After the brief exam, a body scan, and a bag checking I was let in, followed by a guard on my tail. Inside was a building straight out of a Disney movie. God, I wish to own something like this. It was this humongous thing making me look so tiny. Things like this make you realize how earth may be feeling in presence of the sun. The place had a garden twice the size of three of my apartments, and two combined into a pool, right in front of the main entrance. Why do rich people love to buy this much land and waste it like this? People in many countries don’t get enough water to drink and here are these filling up huge pools, buying memberships to hotels, and going swimming there. Two servants greeted us and checked my face closely. Then they took me to a waiting room. The place screamed for money. “Please wait here and I inform Mr. Knight of your arrival,” The maid said and hurried back. Another maid knocked on the door, “What would you like to have?” “I would like a meeting with Mr. Knight!” I told her that I have been waiting in this big room giving me anxiety. “He is on his way,” She said. After a while, two men that I immediately recognized entered along with two women. Two I recognized to be Lyra and her fiance, Ryan Anderson. Mr. Halton Knight, and a lady. “You must be Romaisa, my dear Pleasure to meet you,” Mr. Knight shook my hand. “Nice to meet you too,” I smiled. He sat down and I sat down and then everyone else sat down. He told me he liked my portfolio when the company presented my quotations. And that because I am a newbie, He had to talk his family into hiring me. Thus I will not be a big disappointment. “I will not, Mr. Knight,” I said smiling. “Good, Because you disappoint me, I’ll make sure it is your last project,” Lyra said. Her voice was thin but had harmony. I sighed. Here we go working with another bitchy bride. I know people like her the instant they walk into the room and I knew the moment she walked into this room that she is going to be a pain in the ass. Mr. Knight got up, and everyone else got up. I was sitting. I was given weird looks by both the ladies and thus I stood up too. Mr. Knight left the room and everybody sat down again I was offered some weird looks, Thus I sat down smiling awkwardly. “Okay so, Can you tell me about the wedding you have in mind?” “That’s your job,” Lyra said raising her perfectly made eyebrow. “My job is to execute your wedding depending upon your requirements, and I need to know those requirements,” “I want whatever happens in a wedding,” She said. I almost rolled my eyes. Almost! “Okay, let me ask you questions and you answer them as per your requirements and we see how it goes,” I looked between the bride and groom. This whole conversation felt like I was teaching some five-year-old basic eating manners. “What’s the budget?” I asked and they all laughed. “No limit sweetie,” . . . “Tristan I need you to be here,” Mr. Knight said to his son on the phone, “I want everything to go smoothly, and that too without disturbing this wedding,” “Father It’s almost fifteen days you’re asking me to stay, including this wedding,,” “Yes, but the shipment is a lot bigger, We need these guns to be outside the continent between the wedding, Even if I try to handle that, I need someone to look over the Legal business here. The shares have gone down for the past few weeks and I can’t f*****g understand why,” Tristan took his time to reply. He knew the issues of the Legal and they’ll get worse if not handled with care. “Okay, Father I’ll be there,” Disappointment visible in his voice. “Why the dismay?” Halton asked. “Except mom, I am not fond of the people in your mansion, especially the women,” Halton laughed. A long time after he laughed with his son, or asked about his feelings. “Just to lighten your distress, The woman handling the wedding is quite something, A treat for the eyes,” This made Tristan lose the tension on his face quite a bit.
