Emma POV
Jasper Parrish, my husband, was cold and distant with me most of the time, but even so, I lived to please him, always loving him and fighting for our marriage, believing that if I put a lot of love and care into it, he would start to see me as I deserved to be seen.
Since I was his secretary, I picked up a stack of papers and went to his office so he could sign, since he was the CEO of the company. But that was just my insistence on being able to be close to him. I loved him so much, I had left everything behind to be with him, and I would never stop to fight for this marriage.
“Excuse me, darling. I hope your fingers are ready because I brought you a little work.” I was saying that in a light mood as I opened the door to his office room, but I was stunned by the image I saw in front of me. The stack of papers I was holding ended up on the floor.
He was there, but with a beautiful woman who was kissing and caressing him. I was so shocked that I lost my speech.
“Emma?” He asked as he looked at me, but they didn't even let go of each other, looking at me as if I was bothering them. “Why don’t you knock on the door before you come in?”
“Because you're my husband, and I knew you weren't in a meeting,” I almost answered, the ring on my ring finger burning my skin. “I…” I stuttered, “I brought commercial invoices for you to sign, Jasper.” I said that instead of what I really wanted to say.
“Right. So come and drop it off,” he said, going to sit in his chair. My legs were wobbly, but I continued anyway.
“That’s the bad thing about working with your wife, isn’t it, Jasper?” The beautiful woman commented, still sitting on the table with that tight dress clinging to her body, to seduce my husband. How I wanted to pull her by the hair and drag her away!
“Don’t tell me, Kaylie,” he replied unapologetically as he nonchalantly signed the papers. Didn't he feel any remorse that he was cheating on me right under my nose?
At that moment, when I heard her name, I looked at the woman in surprise. Kaylie? I had heard that name before. Wasn't she my husband's ex-girlfriend?
Kylie smiled cynically at me, raising her fingers in a wave. “Hello, Emma. It seems like you are now realizing who I am,” she said mischievously.
“Why is your ex-girlfriend here, Jasper?” I was feeling so angry.
“Her name is Kaylie Abbott,” he replied, as if correcting me. “She will be the new director of the company’s financial department.”
"What?" I was shocked. I had a degree in finance and had great references, and when I said I wanted to work in that, he put me in his company as his secretary, promising that he would give me that position after a while, and it had been three years and nothing until today, so that his ex-girlfriend comes and one day he gives her that position? That was absurd. “You promised to give this position to me, Jasper!”
"For you?" He gave a sarcastic laugh while being accompanied by his lover. “You are not fit for this position, you never have. Not even as a secretary, you have done a bad job,” he humiliated me in front of her.
“But you promised…” I stammered, feeling twice betrayed.
"Whatever. Kylie Abbott deserves this position more than you. I can see that I can have a lot of fun with her on business trips,” he said, leering at her.
“You bet it is, Jasper,” that b***h replied. “And don’t worry, Emma. Your husband will be in good hands with me.” There was so much boldness and evil in her words.
I went up to her and gave her a good slap across the face. “You scoundrel! b***h!" I screamed as I pulled her hair. “He is my husband, not yours! You shameless b***h!”
But Jasper pulled me away from her as I struggled. “Be quiet, dammit!” He shouted at me.
“Let go of me! I hate you, Jasper! I gave up everything to be with you, and you lie to me, devalue me, and, on top of that, cheat on me with your ex? You know what? I’m too much trouble for your little truck, you i***t!” I screamed in anger, my blonde hair falling apart. One of my shoes ends up on the other side of the room.
But he took me out of his room, carrying me while I was still struggling, and then threw me in the car. “Go home now!” He ordered angrily.
"For what? So you can f**k your mistress without me bothering you?” I threw it in his face, but he slapped me in the face, which made me wince in pain.
“I told you to be f*****g quiet! I don't want you here at the company anymore, you just make me feel ashamed. Today is your last day in this shitty company, did you hear me right? And when I get home I want to find dinner on the table at the right time! Did you hear, Emma Parrish?” He asked authoritatively, calling me by my married name.
“My name is Emma Weiss, you bastard!” I rebelled, but he cut me off, raising his voice and being authoritarian.
“Did you hear me right, Emma Parrish?” I swallowed and nodded slightly. “I want to hear your answer!”
“Yes, I did, Jasper…” I stammered and sniffled.
"Very good. My bodyguard will take you home,” he said, then grabbed my chin tightly, kissing me passionately and then let go. I didn't even have time to react properly. “We're going to solve this problem tonight in our bed,” he finished, and then let me go, closing the car door and signaling his driver to drive.
I wiped my mouth angrily to stop the tingling his lips left there. “I hate this man, what a bastard!” I cursed myself in anger, looking at him through the car window.
