Prepared for the hunt, I turned to face Creamy. He was staring back at me with an amusing grin.
“What’s with the look?”
“Still doesn’t know why you’re dressing cute for just a hunt. You like showing off.”
I eyed him. I would’ve thrust my fist in his face if he had been someone else. But I wasn’t gonna do that.
“You’re oppressing us, it isn’t fair.”
I chuckled, taking my small knife on the table.
“We should get going.”
“Yeah, are we tagging with Sean?”
“Yeah, we don’t need more trouble, it’s preferable we keep low, follow behind them quietly.”
“I was thinking we should go our own way.”
“We can’t, let go with his plan.”
“I’ve been wondering who this killer is, do you think it’s a male or a female?”
I shrugged, I’ve been thinking about that too, it could be a male, with the way the wolf was been killed. It possesses strength, though not quite as a mature man, it was there, his first strike, showing how powerful he was.
A young male, it won’t be too difficult for them. It was probably a rogue wolf.
So I shrugged in my reply to him, I wasn’t so sure, I had to confirm first, that’s why I had to be at the hunt.
“Let’s get going!” I heard someone yell outside my door. I tapped Creamy on his shoulders and we both walked out of the room. Heading out to join the other as we marched down to the Novak forest.
We meet the others outside, we join the queue, with Sean in front of us, he was the one leading so everyone had to listen to him and obey his order.
Well, he was soon to be alpha.
“...let’s go!” That was the only part I heard as we moved out, I didn’t care to listen to the rest words he said.
We walked out of the park house, every one of us, we were about a hundred.
The Beta was the one to go in first, that was the plan Sean made, though it was a stupid plan, and give us a signal if the killer was there. And if he wasn’t out in five or ten minutes.
We strike.
We were approaching the forest, we stopped outside the forest. It was far from the park house, we didn’t take the cars, neither did we use the special horse, we all walked towards the forest. It was that early in the morning, and hardly was anyone out there everyone had been indoors, that was the order the Alpha made, everyone should be in the door, the only members that should be out are the ones protecting the borders.
About getting in the forest, when Sean gave us the order to stop and only the Beta proceed further into the forest.
“Why are we stopping?” Creamy whispered to me.
“That’s the plan,” I whispered back to him.
“Huh?” He furrowed his brows.
I shrugged, I wanted to go in, but I had to wait for it. I don’t wanna mess this up than it already is.
So I keep my calm, and did nothing but wait for his orders for us to go in.
“This is crazy. He sent him to his doom.”
“If I were you, I won’t be saying that out loud.”
“He’s gonna kill him, that’s the truth.”
“He’s a Beta, my father’s trusted fighter, he would put up a good fight.”
“A good fight huh? He’s gonna die, do you know who the killer is..”
“We should have ambushed the forest, than staying here like cowards. This is insane.” He ruffled his hair. He was pissed off.
“We had to follow orders.”
“..spread out everyone, but don’t go too far..”
“f*****g s**t ass Sean. We should look for somewhere to sit.”
We looked around and saw somewhere to sit, she sat atop a rock. Resting our feet while we await the signal.
“I’m getting cold feet.”
I stare at him.
“It would be fine. Stop getting worked up over it.”
“I just can’t stop thinking about him. What if something happens to him. What I’m a saying, he sent him to die, why hadn’t be neglected. Saying he wasn’t gonna go alone.”
“Sean is representing the alpha. He had to obey him.”
“Why should he be the Alpha? Shouldn’t we choose who our next Alpha should be?”
“Stop it Creamy.”
I know he was worried, he was scared, scared of the future of Sean becoming the alpha of moonlight park. But nothing is gonna change that. He’s gonna be the Alpha and we can’t stop it.
“There hasn’t been any signal..”
I looked up, then we heard a cry, a cry of a wolf..we both jumped to our feet, running into the forest, we didn’t wait for his order this time around, we ran in.
“Let’s go!”
Running, the forest was big, we had to spread out, to look for him, so we know where the sound was coming from. The cry was just once and we heard nothing else.
And then we were struck, we had no idea where he was.
“Anyone who found the killer, raise your signal!” Sean yelled from behind us. I was mad because I couldn’t find him when I so much wanted to.
I ran as fast as I could, running and searching for him. He could be dead before we got there. The cry wasn’t a good one, it was filled with so much pain.
“Have you seen him?”
I shook my head at Creamy.
He exhaled. With his hands on his knee.
He was feeling the same way I was, we were both having awful feelings.
“Let’s go this way.”
He nods without hesitating and follows me.
