Chapter Six Two whole days missing from her life, Christina wondered if she even had a life left after her absence. Dale wouldn’t have been home the first night, but he would have called and wondered why she didn’t answer. And what about the second night? Had he been gone then too? He was likely furious with her at best, at worst he came back to her empty apartment and was worried sick over her disappearance. To tell him about the kidnapping was out of the question. But what could she say? The phone rang at four o’clock, and she answered without realizing it might be Dale. “Christina, you’re home!” she heard his excited voice on the other end. “Yeah, I am. Where are you?” “I got back late last night. I’ve been calling for hours, and you haven’t answered, what the hell’s going on?”
