“There’s nothing that can compare to a day like this to make you feel alive,” she said breathlessly seconds before she and Brodie were scooped up by the chair lift. “I couldn’t agree more, lass,” he said, glancing over his shoulder. “Best view in Northstar, right there, though it’s even better at the top.” She followed his gaze, and the breath sucked between her teeth. Last year, dense gray snow clouds and flurries had clung to the mountains the entire day, obscuring the view. Not so today. The view out the cabin and lodge windows was incredible, but as the lift carried them higher up the mountain, the eastern Northstar Mountains seemed to rise with them, giving her a fuller appreciation of their height. All decked out in blue and dazzling white, they were nothing short of spectacular.
