Celeste turned the key in the lock and pushed the front door open. Or rather, the back door. It opened into a mudroom with a washer and dryer on the left wall. A tool bench on the right. Against the interior wall was a built-in bench for taking shoes off with coat hooks and shelves above and cubbyholes for shoes below. The door straight ahead from the outer one led into the kitchen, which was surprisingly spacious and laid out efficiently. As she stepped further into the A-frame, she noted three stools on the living room side of the island. The stairs to the loft, which covered the back half of the cabin, were to her immediate left with their base in the main living area; there was ample storage under them.
