I have never witnessed a more humiliating scene. A queen being whipped like a child at the centre of a crowded arena by a simple warrior.
I wait for her mighty husbands to intervene, but they remain in their seats, laughing alongside everyone else. I realize that this must be their plan, to have her killed so that they can be freed from the blood promise they made.
"She is smart to run." Ezra comments in astonishment as we watch queen Lyna flee from the battlefield with her fierce challenger chasing after her.
She manages to escape the with her head still on, rendering the kings' plans a failure. Apparently the blood promise didn't fully grant her a lifetime of happiness. She has suffered more shame today than any warrior that has ever stood in the arena. But she survived
