Chapter 29: LA & More Memories

1607 Words
Lee’s/Sydney’s POV       I believe I broke every law I could to get from Georgia to LA as fast as possible. Time was running out and deep down I knew I had to make this happen no matter what. I pulled into the driveway of a small cottage looking home, unlike the other house this one looked perfectly manicured from the outside. The lawn was lush and green, the flowers bloomed in all different colors and sizes as they lined the front of the home.      Stepping out of the car I only hoped that no one lived there, I didn’t want to intrude on someone’s privacy, or at least if they lived there, they weren’t home. I took a deep breath and departed from the side of the car as I walked freely to the front door. I stuck the key in the door and a light breeze graced my skin as I heard the most beautiful voice carry in the air.      The door swung open and like the other house I allowed my feet to blindly carry me in without another thought. The home was bright and clean, the furniture was all covered with sheets which told me no one lived there. I moved into the living room and the voice carried again through the air as I watched another movie of memories play in front of me.      The woman looked like an angel as she danced and sung to the small child in her arms. The pure joy was so strong that I couldn’t help but smile as I watched. The child was turned to face me and when her blue eyes met mine, it all came back. That was me, that was my mom, that was our house.      The movie sped forward to me being about three years old, mom laid me down for a nap and told me the most beautiful fairy tale about a forbidden love between a Prince and Princess, their love was pure, and they both sacrificed in order to live that life. I wrapped my arms around myself feeling that love, warmth, and happiness that I had felt as a child. In a single breath the memories forwarded to the night my mother was killed right in front of my eyes. The fear sent chills all the way to the bone, and I could feel the screams as they left my little throat.      I couldn’t take anymore, I turned as fast as I could and ran out of the house, grabbing the door frame to lean against before I collapsed on the ground. Calming myself as quickly as I could, the dots started to connect in my head, the memories became stronger and stronger, from the point of being a young child in that home, to being the person I was when I left the home in Georgia. I couldn’t hide the fact that I was starting to feel more and more alive as the memories washed over me.      “Well, well, well. Look what we have here,” a deep voice brought me out of my trance.      I looked up and three tall lanky looking men stood surrounding me. Their eyes were as black as night, with red filling the whites of them. A tiny voice somewhere deep inside of me was screaming vamp, danger and I couldn’t help but bust out laughing. Seriously, I had watched to many supernatural movies.     The one on my left moved a step closer and it was enough for me to come to my senses. No matter what they were, their body language and the way they were staring at me was enough to tell me that they weren’t there for any good purposes, they were there for me. I took a deep breath and stepped forward with my shoulders straight and head high.     “And what do you want?” I casually asked.     The one on the right spoke first, “You are coming with us, someone is dying to meet you.” He stepped forward and held his hand out, “Don’t make this any harder than it has to be. You can either come willingly, or by force. Makes no difference to us.”     I slowly turned my head from the right to left measuring up the three. I was pretty sure I could take them, no matter who they were, I had already faced down more men than that at one time just a little over a week ago. I slid my right foot slightly behind me and took a stance before I smiled, “Yea, you are going to have to try that with force boys.”     They seemed stunned for the briefest of moments before the one on my left reached his hands out and with lightening speed lunged at me. I grabbed his arms and twisted them behind his back before shoving him into the other three knocking them all to the ground. They stood back up quick and another one came at me. He threw a punch catching me just above the eye, but I managed to kick my leg out knocking his knees out causing him to land face first on the ground. I didn’t waste a second grabbing his jaw and twisting as hard as I could until I heard the snap of his neck, and his already cold body went limp. I wasn’t quick enough to get to my feet before arms wrapped around my waste and I was jerked backwards to my feet. I threw my arms behind me grabbing the guy while I crouched down and slung him over my head, while twisting his neck as well simultaneously. His limp body hit the ground with a loud thud, and I twisted around quickly to face the third one.      “Sure, you still want to take me?” I huffed out. I was getting really tired of everyone thinking they could take me.      The guy was hesitant looking at his buddies lying behind me, but I watched as his face changed and I knew he was fixing to attack. He took one step to lunge, and I readied myself for it, but before he could take another step two hands wrapped around his jaws from behind him and his head twisted leaving limp body free falling to the ground.      I blinked a few times between the limp body and the smiling faced man standing there until I finally straightened myself up, “I had it you know.” I huffed out.      He held his hands up in mock surrender, “Oh I know, you are something else Lee.”     I crossed my arms and let a mischievous grin cross my face, “Now is that my name?”    His smile dropped a little and he c****d his head sideways and then in once swift movement he had me in a bear hug as he swung me around in a circle, “Sin!”     I giggled as I kissed his cheek and wiggled out of his arms. “Yep, in the flesh,” I held my hand up to his chest, “And before you ask, no I don’t remember you, yet. But I know you must be important and when I do remember you, I don’t want to forget to tell you I missed you.”     “What do you remember?” He asked as I looped my arm in his and we casually walked back toward my car.      “I can tell you everything up until I was fourteen in Georgia. After leaving that house I have no memory, but I hope it comes back with the next place I have to visit.” I stopped in front of the car and turned loose of his arm as I turned around and leaned against the car. “So, mind telling me how you found me and who they are?”     He looked over his shoulder and then back at me, “Well, since they are here, I am guessing they are after you, not sure why though. And no, I wasn’t following you smarty pants, I was actually trailing them.”      “So, are you some kind of bounty hunter or something, set out to find people?”     “Let’s just say something.” He reached around opening the door for me, “You need to get a move on. I will take care of clean up here.” I climbed in the car, and he held the door. “I hope to see you on the other end of this.” He confessed.     “Who do you hope to see?” I raised a brow as I stuck the key in the ignition.     He pointed to me, “You, I don’t care Lee or Sin, just you.” He stepped back and turned loose of the door, “And if I forget to tell you, I missed you too.”     I closed the door and watched as he turned to go back toward the house. I still had a lot to learn about Sydney Lane, but one thing I knew without even knowing yet, was that I had friends that truly were my friends.     Looking in the rear view mirror as I backed out of the driveway, I noticed my eye looked a little red, I guessed I would probably have a black eye for a few days. And then it hit me, I didn’t even have a bruise after the event, I knew I took some hard hits but other than being a little sore I hadn’t shown any visible signs. Would my eye be that way too?
