"I love how my kitchen smells of butter and you in the mornings. It is such a welcoming aroma." - Logan. 6. Sticky notes, breakfasts and New friends (Logan) Logan woke up with a grunt and a yawn, cursing his mind for wandering into the places it shouldn't. It had taken him so long before he could finally get rid of her from his brain, his mind and go to sleep. And sleep... And then she haunted him in his dreams. He wondered if this all would go away with a kiss or if it would only grow and grow until he was lost in it. He was not ready to find out. Somehow he knew the answer wouldn't be easier to swallow. He took a shower before he walked to the kitchen. He rummaged his fridge for something to eat and that was when he noted the post it note stuck to the right side of the refrigerator door. He picked it up and smiled when he read it and then he picked up another paper and scribbled a note before he folded her note and put it inside his wallet along with her eight bucks. ___ Hey grumpy, I must be sleeping now, but breakfast☕ in the table. Eat it all. Veggies, too. Under your plate is a grocery list. Don't forget to buy them. Don't forget to smile, as well. Have a nice day. - Alex ___ When did she wake up and made it all for him? Somehow the thought of her doing it all just for him made him warm all over. He took a sniff with a smile and he could smell butter and her in the air. And he loved it. For the first time in so long, he was going to have a proper breakfast at his home. Yes, whenever he visited his mom, he would get this kind of Royal treatment, but today was much more special. He walked to the table she didn't like very much and opened the tray to find a plate of scrambled eggs with veggies and French toast and a glass of orange juice. There was also a muffin. His mouth watered. He clapped enthusiastically before he sat and ate everything. Except broccoli. Oh, he hated that. As he walked inside his office, Tom, his assistant stared at him with wariness. "What?" Logan asked. "Am I going to get fired, boss?" "Why would you ask that?" "You are like... Smiling." "And so?" "I don't know. It is just weird. And I am scared." Tom said as he opened a file and pushed it in front of Logan. "You want coffee?" "Nah, I am good." "You are going to work without coffee?" "Yes?" "What is it, boss? You can tell me anything. Are you kicking me out? Or are you dying?" "Dying? Where do you come up with these ridiculous ideas." "You are still smiling, boss. Do you want to look at yourself in the mirror?" "Ok, Tom, stop bothering me and get me Aidan Masters file. When is the meeting, again?" He asked as he scanned the papers. "Umm, everything is almost to the proposed cost except the light fittings." He talked to himself as he opened a book and scribbled a reminder to himself to call Lowell Lightings. If they weren't going to agree to the proposed budget, he had to look for a new supplier. "It is at nine. Oh. I am not fired, then. Thank God. I have a wife and kid to take care of and they are thanking you, as well, boss." "Have you forgotten your filter at home? The one between your brain and mouth?" Logan asked as he signed the documents Tom had placed in front of him. "Jokes. Did you just learn that world is going to end tomorrow? I can not bear the suspense." He asked. "And boss, Melissa Meyers called. She was done with the other project and she wanted to know if the offer for Mathilda's project still stands?" Tom asked and Logan tapped his pen against his lips as he thought about that. "Let me think about that for a day." Logan said and looked up at Tom. "If you don't move now, I am really firing you. I need the file I asked in five minutes." "Moving. Moving." He walked away and Logan shook his head before he went back to his file. *** (Alexandra) She woke up after ten, still groggy, still grumpy and still feeling sleepy. As she walked towards the bathroom, she bumped her head in the door. "Ah." She muttered. "Don't antagonize me. I am not feeling myself today." She said to the door before she pushed it open. Her eyes burned. She hadn't had a good sleep, even though the mattress was all cuddly and spongy. It wasn't the bed's fault, it was the bed's master's fault. What's a girl to do when she was constantly tormented by a sexy ghost! She woke up early in the morning at around five, her throat parched, her ties tingling snd her body electric. He was there in her dreams and what the hell was he doing in her dreams, kissing her? It was very disturbing to say the least and she woke up, feeling hot, sweaty and bothered and after that she couldn't go back to sleep, not at all. She turned and thrashed and decided it wasn't helping any. So she went for a jog and decided to make Logan's breakfast. After she did that --it was kind of peaceful-- though, she felt sleepy again and so went back to the warm embrace of her bed, once again. And here she was, still feeling so sleepy. She wrapped a towel around her hair before wearing her old sweat shirt and a track pant. She walked to the kitchen and noticed the broccoli was still there in the plate. Everything else was gone. She smiled to herself as she picked up the dishes and loaded it inside the dishwasher. He had already told her not to do that, because Esther, his maid, would be there at eleven every morning to do the chores, but she was bored. And then she walked to the refrigerator to get a carton of milk and that was when she noticed his sticky note. ___ Hey sleepy head, Thanks for an amazing breakfast. I hate broccoli, though. Grocery? Really? Do I look like the guy who does grocery? I will try, but no promises. Don't get into trouble when I am gone. - L ___ She laughed as she finished reading it and then safely put it inside the book she left it on the table. And time dragged on and on and she was very bored. So she decided to bake cookies. She searched his refrigerator and thankfully there was everything there, including chocolate chips. So she went about preparing the batter. It was eleven when Esther came. She was a round woman with a very sharp nose. Also, she hated Alex at first sight, or it seemed so as she pointed a finger at Alex's face and shook her head with an amazing speed that Alex wondered if her neck was made of something like rubber. "You did the dishes? I do dishes." She pointed to herself. She shook her head again, looking disgruntled. Alex tried to placate her with a smile, which didn't work out very well. "Sorry, I was bored." "Bored, watch movie. Don't do chores. Mr. Forr-the only like me cleaning." Uh-oh. Someone is very possessive of Mr. Forte. Alex thought with a small smirk and decided to make fun of Logan with that when he returned home. She really missed him already. The easy banter. The friendly chatter. It was all so easy with him and she was so surprised to realize it had only been a day since she met him. Oh, yes, it was all so easy, except that weird buzz in her skin whenever he was near to her. He was like her very own brand of electric wire, alive and thrumming and she needed a shock proof vest. She needed to stay away or she would get the shock of her lifetime. And Alex wasn't that stupid to do things that was probably going to hurt her, just because they felt so deceptively easy. She was not in the market for a heartbreak. No thank you, Logan Forte! *** (Logan) Logan lived for working. He had always been a hardcore workaholic. But today was just too much even for him with his new client constantly questioning every one of Logan's ideas, which were fail safe. Logan didn't have a heart to tell that to the man, keeping them satisfied was one of his jobs to do. So he tried to assure Aidan Masters that everything was going to go without a hitch. The man looked assured for a moment and then he would have another doubt and so it went on, like an unending cycle. The meeting was proving to be more difficult than he anticipated, but Logan lived for the thrill of it. One new client signed was one other victory for his hard work. Logan's patience was slowly thinning, though, but he still didn't give into his urge to scream at the man in front of him. Instead he did what Alex had asked him to do. Smile. Aiden was a first timer, too, even though he had the cushion of his dad's money, he was hungry to prove to the world that he could be his own person. And it was no wonder he was worrying about everything. That was what you do when you wanted to succeed. "Mr. Masters. We are now doing it for four years. We didn't have any complaints as of now. I promise I will overlook everything if it can ease your mind." "It is just... I want to prove myself to my dad. He has always been so criticizing and he didn't want to believe that I can do it all on my own. If you mess it up, it means I fail. I can not fail. You get me?" "I do. And I promise your new restaurant would be much better than your dad's. Okay? I give you my word and I am going to stand by them." "Thank you, Mr. Forte, now I knew why you went to such great heights in such short time." "Thank you." The deal was signed and Logan let out a pent up sigh. Huzzah! *** (Alexandra) As Alexandra finished another book from Logan's massive library --which was a perfect place to die. So many books. The fresh smell of paper and cardboards. And words. God, how she loved that-- she placed it back in the rack, right where she took it from and stretched and her bones groaned. Four hours of constant reading could do that to your joints. She was planning to go to the pool house when she heard the front door opening. Esther was already gone after berating her not to touch the dishes again and Logan had called to say he would be late. So who the hell was it at this hour? God, was it an intruder? What was she going to do? She looked around and picked up a hardbound book in her hand as she sneaked outside and peaked from behind the walls. It was a man. Only his back was showing and he was so busy looking at the television. Was he going to steal that? She threw the book right at him at the same time the man turned and he screamed as it hit him in his stomach and Alex screamed along with him. "God, what are you..." "Oh God, what are you..." They both stopped and stared at each other. "I thought you were an intruder." She explained with a sheepish smile. "And this book was supposed to save you from him?" He chuckled. "I didn't have time to think about that." "So what are you doing here, mystery woman?" Daniel threw her a suspicious look. "I met you in the restaurant and then here you are, again, in pajamas. And Stacie was gone for what, a day? I have never seen Logan moving that fast?" Daniel's eyes narrowed. She bit her lips. She knew Logan would have her head in a plate if she so much as breathed a word about what she was doing here. "The room I was staying, it was infested with pests and they have called in pest control. It is a bummer I have to move. Logan said I can stay here till I find some place else." After a year. It was almost the truth. The motel was infested with human pests. "Hmm." He looked at her. "You are not lying, right?" "No. I am not." "I like you, but if I find out you are lying and are here to have your claws on Logan, just like that Stacie, you will regret ever meeting me." And for that moment, the sunny, smiling, joking Daniel Anderson was no more. He looked dangerous and Alex prayed he wouldn't blame her when he learnt about Logan's plans and her place in it. "Umm. Okay. That is just so mob boss, but you can not..." "Oh, lighten up already, I was just kidding." She was sure he was not. He sniffed the air like a bloodhound. "What is cooking? God, that smells delicious." And he was the sunny, smiling guy again. "You have one heck of a nose. Nothing is cooking now, but I made cookies at noon." "Oh, cookies. That must be why I felt like I had to be here right now. My babies, Mama is coming." He cooed as he walked to the kitchen and Alex followed him with a smile. "Movie?" He asked. "I was going to watch something bloody." "And you came all the way for that? Why couldn't you watch it in your house?" "Ah, I was around here somewhere and too tired to drive all the way back home." "Hmm." "Come on. Let us watch a movie and I will tell you all about Stacie." And so he did. And it was so filled with expletives that Alex had to close her ears for half of his tirade. "Stop." She said. "I had heard enough." "I have more to say." "No thank you. You concentrate on the movie." He shrugged. "Bossy. You and Logan are a perfect pair."
