I stare at my father in complete and utter shock, how can she have been murdered? You told me she was ill and died not long after I was born. " Thats partly true" dad said as he stared off deep in thought for a minute in silence then he continued.

" You were only a couple of months old when it happened, your mother had been to visit family that day or so she told me. The truth was your mother was a witch and I didn't know until after her death when her coven came knocking threatening to kill you and anyone else that stood in their way. They were very powerful and cast a spell on your mother after she refused to give you up because they knew you were part wolf and it was against their beliefs to breed with our kind.You are special Lucinda and your mother loved you very much. This is why I have had to keep you safe all these years moving from town to town just hoping they dont find us. I am now hoping that now you may have found your mate that the pack will keep you safe as moving again wont really be an option. I don't care about what happens to me as long as you are safe." My dad spoke these words and I couldn't help but feel his sadness after losing my mother and then the thought that he may have lost me too. I snuggle up to him and hug him close to try and let him know I'm here and I'm ok. He pulled away a little reluctantly and said " how about I make us a hot chocolate an we watch a movie?" I sniffed a little and said thanks that would be good.

The rest of the evening was calm and not eventful as we watched a chick flick then a comedy trying to lighten our mood. I went to bed with thoughts of my mother swirling in my mind, was I like her? Did she have magical powers? I soon drifted off to sleep mentally exausted and thats when I had the dream.

I was lying down in some long grass the clear night sky above me, all I could see were the bright beautiful stars that dotted the blackness and the huge full moon giving off its eerie light, it wasn't cold though when I looked down I could see I was only in my pale pink nightgown. I decided to stand up and have a look around and I could see I was surrounded then by lush dark green bushes and trees, it was the most amazing looking grove and so peaceful as there was only a light breeze in the air making the trees sway. I walked a little towards the trees and thats when I heard the sweetest voice in my head.

" My dear Lucinda I have waited a long time for you to learn the truth and now that you know I am able to come to you, My name is Selene and I am the moon goddess. You my soon to be Luna will be magnificent when you reach your true potential. I have great plans for you." Why can't I see you? I asked in my mind. " oh my child you soon will" was all she said before the grove faded into the darkness and the rest of my sleep was dreamless.
