*Xavier’s POV*
I watched my princess sleep as I paced the room. If that was a fūcking vision, that means that they are gathering people as we speak.
I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed Liam’s number.
“Xavier.” He yawned as he picked up the phone.
“Sorry for waking you up, Liam.” I sighed, it was becoming a habit, forgetting to check the time before calling him.
“It’s okay. I have to switch border patrol with Wyatt soon anyway.” He replied. “Is everything alright?” He yawned again as I heard him close a door.
“That’s what I wanted to know. Have you seen anything suspicious?” I asked him.
“No.” He replied with hesitation. “What is going on?”
“Victoria had a vision. Well, I think.” I told him as I turned to Victoria to make sure that she was still sleeping.
“A vision about what?” He asked.
“Come back to bed, Liam.” I heard Brook grumble next to him.
“Sheesh woman! You scared the fūck out of me.” He chuckled, making me shake my head.
“A vision about the pack getting attacked by rogues and vampires.” I said, trying to get his attention again.
“Vamps?” Liam hissed.
“Yeah.” I replied as I massaged my temples.
“But why the fūck would they mess with us? Vampires know that they should keep their distance.” Liam asked in irritation.
“I have been meaning to call.” I sighed before rubbing my face tiredly. “Blackfort got away.”
“He what?” Liam growled.
“What the hell, babe!” Brook shouted, taking the phone away. “Xavier?”
“Yeah,” I replied.
“What the heck is going on?” She asked in panic.
“Put me on speaker, for goddess’ sake. I can’t keep repeating myself,” I told her.
“Done. Go ahead.” She said right after.
“Blackfort got away, and we think that he is planning on attacking the pack. Maybe not now, but in the future,” I told them.
“How the heck did he get away?” Brook asked. “Oh, goddess, how is Tori? She must be freaking out!”
“She had been out for three days.” I whispered, preparing for Brook’s scream.
“Three fūcking days!” She yelled.
“Yup. There it is.” Maximo sighed.
“You didn’t think about calling us?” She continued yelling.
“Baby, calm down.” Liam said.
“I’m not calming down! She is my friend and luna and he didn’t even consider telling us!”
“Sorry, Xavier. She has been a bit moody lately.” He said quickly. “Ow!” He yelled.
“Don’t you apologize to him!” She said.
“Brook, relax. I’m telling you now. I don’t have time for this right now.” I told her through clenched teeth.
“We aren’t done here. But fine. What do you need from us?” She asked.
“Well, for one, I need the pack to train harder than ever to go to war. I want you guys to get Dad and Wyatt around noon so we can FaceTime. I will get with Victoria’s brother and father so we can discuss this. From Victoria’s vision, we were back in the pack. Maybe we have a few more days to prepare, but I don’t want a surprise attack. We can discuss it further later.” I told them as Victoria moaned in pain. “I got to go, guys. Victoria is waking up.”
“Okay, talk soon.” Liam replied before hanging up.
I walked over to Victoria, rubbing her cheek softly as I reached the button to call the doctor with my other hand.
*Edric’s POV*
After leaving Victoria’s room, I walked back to mine to rest for a little bit. Or so I told myself. I knew that what was coming was big and I needed to rest in order to prepare for it.
As soon as I entered the bedroom, my mate’s scent engulfed my senses, instantly calming me down.
Even though I had convinced her to sleep in my bedroom, we don’t sleep together. She takes the bed while I take the couch across from it. I really don’t mind, as long as she is in my bedroom. But then again, I craved to sleep with her. To hug her. To hold her while she slept.
“Just having her close will do.” I sighed as I made my way to the couch.
As I sat on the couch, I couldn’t help but watch her sleep. She looked so peaceful, happy even, which made my heart swell. Especially after the sleepless nights she has had.
I smiled as she lightly snored. My mate was the most perfect person I had ever laid eyes on, which is why I couldn’t comprehend how someone could cause her so much harm.
I should have fūcking killed him, no questions asked. Now, he was on the loose while my mate was struggling to sleep, at least for the first two nights, and my sister had passed out for three.
“We will find him, and we will kill him.” Jax growled lowly.
“I won’t let him continue hurting my mate and family.” I told him. “We will definitely kill him.”
I stood up to pour myself a drink. I needed something to calm me down. My mate’s scent can only do so much.
“Edric?” I heard her whisper softly, making me turn quickly to face her.
I was getting ready to respond when I noticed that she was still sleeping. I furrowed my brows as I approached her. “Kayshla?” I whispered as I leaned forward.
“Mmmm, yes, Edric. Like that.” She moaned out, making me stand abruptly.
“What the fūck?” I asked Jax. “Is she dreaming, what I think she is dreaming?”
“I fūcking wish she wasn’t dreaming it.” He sighed.
“You are such a horn dog.” I muttered as I focused on my mate again.
“Kayshla? Baby?” I whispered again.
For some reason, my breathing was getting heavier as I watched her sleep. She was beginning to sweat, making me feel tense in other parts of my body.
“Kayshla?” I whispered as I tried to wake her up. This was not like her normal dreams or nightmares.
“Mmmm.” She moaned. “Please, Edric, please.” She moaned, making my brows furrow.
Now, I was struggling to keep Jax down. He wanted out and he wanted out now.
I cupped her face softly, but an intense shock burned through my body, causing her eyes to fly open. I guess she felt it too, since she was looking at me with brows furrowed.
When our eyes met, I noticed that something was off. Not in a bad way, I think, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
“Kay—” I was about to say when her scent hit me like a fūcking truck. “Holy fūck!” I growled as I pushed myself against the wall.
I instantly freaked out when I realized that she was having her fūcking heat.
