Chapter 13

833 Words
Drip Drip Drip I came into a daze while I played with my food. It was not as appetizing as other normal soups I had tried. Others did not look like they cared, as they had their fill. My mind wondered how I would face more danger if my masking spray soon wore off. I looked around me. Many tables were filled with sweaty, musky-smelling men eating in this area. My food became too unappetizing to even reach my lips. Are there even other female slaves around here? I wanted to ask this question to the human man with whom I talked and was annoyed earlier, but he chose to sit far away from me. Not a single person dined close to me, and this table is big enough to occupy fifteen people. CLANG! "You filthy human!" A Lycan chef shouted, I can easily tell who the Lycans are based on their towering height and muscular bodies. The humans could not compare to their hunky stature. The Lycan king, I wonder how tall he is. Even in this state, he managed to slip through my mind. I shook my head. It was ridiculous of me to even think of him. He was the one who put me here, and I almost forgot about it. I returned my attention to the poor, skinny man. The skinny man's eyes were wide as he started to lick the ground for the wasted food that the chef had thrown at him. My heart dropped in disbelief. This is how my new life starts. Soon I will be begging for food too. The spoon I was holding folded in half after I gripped it too tight. Luckily, no one noticed it. They treated humans as animals when they were the ones who were truly animals. Men began to disperse from their table. They did not care to witness them any further, like it was common to see that certain incident. The man who was licking the food appeared to be skin-to-bones. Will I become like him too? I was about to offer my food to him when one of the warriors shouted... "Stop eating slaves!" It has only been five minutes. My eyes glanced at the bowl of soup in front of me. It was still full. The man who did not stop licking at the ground was kicked in the stomach. He coughed blood, and I flinched when I heard his bone crack. "Get up!" Despite the pain he had been through, he managed to stand up with his hands wrapped around his stomach. I gritted my teeth and looked away. Sadly, I cannot help him. My goal was to survive through the night unscathed. "Where are you headed, slave?" This tall warrior blocked my path as I was on my way to sleep on a tree. I looked up at him with lazy eyes. He seems emotionless, like some other Lycans. I did not stare any further. "I am looking for a place to retire tonight." "All slaves have a room to sleep in; you are not allowed to wander about." "I see..." "It seems to me that you were not informed by this; I will let this slide for now. Bear in mind that there won't be a next time, or there will be consequences." "Yes." I gritted my teeth and followed him nonetheless. After some time walking, we were heading away from the castle. A four-story building came into my view. There is not much to comment on. It looked haunted. Before us were other slaves walking towards the entrance, and we followed suit. I looked around inside and concluded that this place was similar to an abandoned building. It's filthy inside, and cobwebs were more prevalent than furniture here. I'm certain that there are plenty of creepy crawlers in every corner. The slaves are meant to rot in this place. We went around to our left and up the staircase. After a few minutes, we ended up on the 4th floor. My room was at the center of this floor. "This is your room." He pushed the door hard, and dust coated my nose. I coughed. I went in and looked at my surroundings. It was a very narrow, small room. There was no bed, and only a midsize window was intact in the wall. I guess I'll have to sleep on the floor. Even Popa's cell was much better and larger than this. Still, slaves are treated no better than prisoners. "What about my-" I was cut off with a loud bang on the door. I was about to ask for a bathroom to shower in and a change of clothing. Frankly, his leaving me empty-handed I was no longer surprised. I was sweaty and smelly. Sleeping will be hard for me. The warrior left me no choice but to endure. My lips pursed in anger. My hands reached for the door knob and twisted it. I was locked outside. "D*mn it!"
