Over the past few days, since Sarah told me everything, I’ve kept her with me. I’ve dropped Sarah off at her place each morning so she could check in with Jenna and do her thing before work. Then I’ve picked her up after her shift each evening. Having Sarah in my home, in my bed, safe in my arms is the only way I can relax.
Sarah had nightmares the first night in my home. It broke my heart because I forced her to relive all of that pain and agony; it was my fault the nightmares came.
I held Sarah and told her everything would be okay. Nothing will ever happen to her again; I’ll make sure of it. Sarah clung to me, falling asleep almost as quickly as she’d woken.
