After a lot of poking and prodding, stumbling and falling, unexpected blows and unnecessary violence, not to mention a trip in the back of a swaying, rumbling cargo transporter, Mayhew was finally forced to his knees on a hard, cold surface. The hood was yanked from his head with such force, that it took a few of his already thinning and greying hairs with it. After the muffled darkness of the hood, the light was glaring, blinding, and the noise unbearably loud. And because he was still bound, Mayhew couldn’t even cover his eyes and ears against the sudden onslaught. It was more torture. Sensory deprivation, followed by sensory overload.
