CVII - Red-handed

1458 Words

After Lucia, Dina, Pearl, and Rose left Crystal's room to commence their cleaning duties, Marla and Crystal exchanged a knowing glance before silently slipping into the maid's quarters. The room was dimly lit, with the afternoon sunlight filtering through the curtains, casting shadows across the modest furnishings. With a sense of purpose, Marla and Crystal began to carefully place small gold trinkets and delicate ornaments in Lucia, Dina, Pearl, and Rose's cabinets and bags. Each item was strategically positioned to appear as if it belonged to the unsuspecting servants. Marla's lips curled into a greedy grin as she surveyed their handiwork. "Now, everyone will believe that Lucia, Dina, Pearl, and Rose are thieves," she remarked, her voice filled with satisfaction at their devious plan.
