Massy stood in the kitchen of her parents beautiful home. Both her parents were very successful in their own right. Cynthia, her mother was a tall but still very petite white woman, long jet black curly hair that flowed freely past her shoulder, her skin was an olive tone. She was a very successful Doctor with years and years of school and studying under her belt.
Her father Bo, a head football coach and Sports Director for the local high school was very well known and respected throughout the sports world. Playing football all his life through grade school, then high school, then took his talents to The University of Florida on a football scholarship. His dark brown skin a mixture of African and Dominican features a very tall 6'3 handsome man, he could flirt a woman right out her dress without touching her, he was so charming.
Massy's father was definitely the reason for her constantly being dubbed the "Student-Athlete" between her and Mari. He saw Massy's natural abilities for sports and ran with it, having her in multiple activities all year round. Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, Gymnastics, even Swimming, but it was Gymnastics and Soccer that Massy seemed to gravitate too and simply dominated.
"Cut those as small as you can." Cynthia said pointing in Massy's direction as she watched her peal cloves of fresh garlic so to cut them up.
Cynthia turned back around stirring the large pot of simmering homemade tomato sauce. Mari sitting on the other side of the counter. Her phone being more interesting than helping her mother and sister cook for family night. Mari's attention was taken from her phone when distant yelling came flooding through the house from their father, who was in the family room watching some sports game, by his yelling and cussing the team he was rooting for wasn't doing too well.
"Hey mom, guess what!?" Mari set her phone down on the counter and leaned back in her chair, realizing this was the perfect time to be a petty older sister.
Cynthia, still stirring the pot. "What?" She asked with her back turned.
"Massy has a boyfriend." She said calmly without a single care.
Almost cutting her finger with the knife Massy looked up in complete shock, her mouth wide open. Cynthia turned around with wide eyes and a smile.
"What? Really? Mas!? what's his name? How come we haven't met him yet." Cynthia began babbling.
"why would you say that! No, I don't mom. I don't have a boyfriend. Massy flipped the knife around in her hand sending stabbing motions Mari's way.
"His name is Odell Beckham Jr, Wide Receiver for the New York Giants." Mari sent a childish smile Massy's way.
Cynthia put her hand on her chest and c****d her head back. "Oh, Massy. Wow. When are we going to meet him!?" Her mother said sounding excited and genuinely not knowing Mari was being petty.
"You're not going to meet him, mom, because he's not my boyfriend." Massy said looking annoyed.
"Who got a boyfriend?" Bo asked as he entered the kitchen, kissing Cynthia on the top of the head and stealing a meatball from the cooling rack at the same time.
"Massy! His name is Odell Beckham Jr, Wide Receiver for the New York Giants." Mari repeated herself again.
"YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY HIS FULL NAME AND TITLE EVERY TIME YOU BRING HIM UP!" Massy's hand went into the air as she yelled across the counter at her sister. "Gosh, you are so annoying. Jesus Christ!"
"Don't say, Jesus Christ, Massy!" Her mother added as she looked down at the missing meatball.
Massy leaned over the counter putting her head in her hands covering her face. Oh my god, I need a new family." She mumbled in her hands.
ODELL!? now that name brings up some memories, I played with ODB Senior, in college! Them was some good days." Bo looked up at the ceiling as he began reminiscing, his naturally boisterous voice reigning through the house. "Now that's a baaaad man, the man was like the Juggernaut! Run right threw uh brick wall! But we beat'em every time." Bo leaned a hand on the kitchen counter then placed one on his hip. "Boy, we put them LSU Tigers in that Gator Swamp, they couldn't neva get out! Beat'em every time."
Cynthia turned around rolling her eyes. "Here we go." She said dropping meatballs into the sauce.
Once Bo got to talking about sports, especially football, it was hard to get him to stop, you just kind of had to ride it out and let him talk, he'd eventually tire himself out.
"I seen some footage of uum... ODB, ODB.... Junior, when he was down at LSU." Bo stood up straight and began acting as if he was about to catch a ball. "The boy caught.... Listen to this about ya boyfriend." He tapped Massy on the shoulder getting her to look up at him. She was about to tell him he wasn't her boyfriend, but she realized it was too late. "The boy caught the ball with one hand, like this here, he brought it in, tucked it in like this here, and took off for a 65-yard touchdown, the boy was so fast the other team didn't know if he was coming or going, he was so fast. Couldn't nobody catch him! He just kept running! The boy ran right out the stadium, he kept going! I said they need to draft him TONIGHT!"
Bo's loud laugh took over the kitchen, Mari scrunched up her face squinting her eyes trying not to bust out laughing, Massy held both her hands on either side of her head trying to hold onto what little sanity she had left. Mari had opened up a window in a wind storm. Massy knew her parents would now be asking about him and her on a regular basis.

Cynthia and Bo sat cuddled on the couch in the living room Mari looked over at Massy eyeing her. Massy tried her best to ignore her sister but she could feel her eyes burning a hole in the back of her head as she rinsed off dishes and put them in the dishwasher.
"Mari, I do not have time to chase a VERY attractive 22-year-old professional football player in the height of his career around New York all day." Massy said turning around and looking at her sister giving her a stern face so she knew not to continue to push the topic.
Mari rolled her eyes and tossed her head back. "Oh my God, Massy you make it sound like its a child when you put it like that!"
"IT IS MARI!" Massy stopped talking realizing she just yelled, she looked in the direction of the living room and quieted her voice. "A relationship is like a child! You have to love it, and nurture it, and feed it, and play with it when it gets bored! All that man can offer me right now is good d**k and headaches."
Mari puffed air through her lips. And held the tea mug up to her lips. "Pff, I'd happily take all that good d**k and stock up on Tylenol."
Massy frowned and rolled her eyes at her sister's comment, she turned around and continued with the dishes, Mari looking down at her phone at the picture their mother took before all the chaos.
"We are extremely cute, oh my gosh."
Massy shook her head at how nonchalant her sister could be. She frowned at how similar Mari was to their father. It was easy when nothing was happening to them. They could start up a rainstorm and be the only ones casually looking at everyone else get wet as they stood under an umbrella.
