GAVIN HAROLD WORKED at a computer software firm on one of the town's two industrial estates, the one situated to the north of the town. It was well before lunchtime and the roads had little in the way of traffic so, even with Llewellyn again behind the wheel, they made good time. The weather was still pleasant for early June, which was often a disappointing month. The sun was out, bathing the Essex town's varied buildings in brilliant light, shimmering on the roman bricks that had been pillaged from the town's earlier structures. Elmhurst, an ancient market town with a Charter from wicked King John in the 13th Century, had an attractive mix of medieval, Tudor and Georgian buildings, all fanning out from the still largely medieval centre. The outskirts of the town, like most urban landscap
