CHAPTER TWO

-YURI HANNA- "Why did you leave the hotel room, Prince Killah? Where is Mr. Gozo?" I asked the prince as I wiped the blood from my hands with a moist tissue. I was told that my subject was multilingual, so I was confident that the royal blood could grasp simple queries. The prince scoured his long damp hair with his fingers and shifted on his seat, drawing my attention and revealing evidence of discomfort on his face. He is a werewolf, but his frail frame makes it clear what's bothering him. "What? You're cold?" I sarcastically rasped before tossing the rubbish out the window, reaching for the coat in the backseat of my car, and roughly tossing it to the prince. "Geez!" My head jerked from side to side before I started the vehicle's engine and sped away. On the flip side, Prince Killah discreetly inhaled the scent of the coat before covering the upper half of his body. "I heard shifters of the eastern continent are blessed with extraordinary vitality, but I never thought the rumors were true," he leaned back and fixed his stare on me. My gaze focused on the road as I sniggered My subject could have been bragging about how easily I dispatched the assassins to the gates of hell, but I was unmoved by the Highness' plaudits. "I'm not looking for shitty compliments; I'm asking where the hell your attendant is, Prince Killah." The prince's left brow rose as he smiled fondly at the cranky fella in the driver's seat, which was me. "My elders always warned me not to trust strangers; perhaps a good rationale is enough to acknowledge all your concerns, sir." Groaning, I glared at the prince for mistaking me for a lad again. My patience was wearing thin, to be honest, but I had to tolerate his foolishness. "I'm Yuri Hanna, second in command of the Bloody Paws pack, and I've been assigned as your bodyguard!" I introduced myself when I calmed down a little and snapped my concentration back to the road. "Hmm," the prince hummed. As his gaze lingered on my aggressive demeanor, the fondness in his eyes evolved to interest. "Surprisingly, Mr.Gozo did his job well this time," a smile slowly developed on his lips, and he finally answered my query. "My attendant mysteriously vanished after assisting me in my room; I went out to check on him, but the rain enthralled me." "f**k the rain!" I yelled, clearly aggravated "Do you know what will happen if those filthy scraps succeed in killing you, your highness? Do you know what your death means?" The prince's lips twitched. He replied, "Peace?" with a silly grin. "War!" I corrected him with my teeth grinding. "If your blood is spilled on our land, we will go to war!" "Is that so?" the prince chortled and leaned forward until he was a hair's breadth away from me, then whispered, "Would you like to make a bet with me?" His hot breath stroked my delicate ear, and as a result, I slammed my foot into the brake of the car. The vehicle came to a halt, causing the prince's coat to plunge onto the dashboard before falling into his lap. "What the hell!" I roared like a mad bull, clutching Prince Killah's shirt. "Don't do that s**t again!" A distinct warning could be heard in my voice, but his royal highness showed no fear as he c****d his head to the side and smiled softly but meaningfully. "Alright, I won't do it again," Prince Killah relinquished, and I quickly released him. "Damn it! You are annoying!" I murmured, continuing to drive while cursing him in my head. The prince shrugged and tugged the coat back to his upper body. He went silent, but his inscrutable gape never left me. __________________________ (THIRD POV) Prince Killah didn't realize he'd fallen asleep. He only noticed it when he felt something stop moving, which gradually woke him up. As his lids slid open, he discovered that he was still in the car with the Beta of Bloody Paws, who was holding the steering wheel but not driving. "What's the matter?" Killah inquired, his voice tired. He yawned and shifted in his seat. Yuri Hanna took a deep breath and turned to face him. "Are you carrying your wallet?" The prince chuckled and joked, "Is this a robbery?" His bodyguard grumbled and irritably stated the issue, "We ran out of gas, and I left my wallet at the packhouse." "I don't have a wallet, but I have money," Killah whispered, closing his eyes and moving to the side of the car to continue sleeping. "It's in my pocket, but I'm too lazy to get it." Yuri grimaced. "What the—" She didn't complete his sentence though and loomed over to the prince to get the money from his drenched pants. Her left hand went under the coat and was going to reach for Killah's pocket when the prince cracked up and gently pulled him off. "If someone sees us, it'll look like you're jumping on me, sir bodyguard," Killah mocked, pulling money from his wallet to hand to his bodyguard. "Damn it!" Yuri mumbled as he seized the bills from the prince and clarified the situation. "I am not at all attracted to you, Your Highness; I am only doing my job, and that will remain so until you return to your humble castle." Killah only hummed and returned his menacing gaze to Yuri. They didn't have time to squander, so the beta chose to ignore him. She must take the prince to a safe location before another assassin comes after him. Yuri drove to the nearest gas station and then pulled in front of a shop. "Stay here, I'll get you something to eat first," she said as she opened the door to her side and walked out. Killah watched him, puzzled, and as soon as the hired bodyguard entered the store, a subtle unfathomable smile was pulled on his lips. "Interesting."
