3 Marnie alighted sometimes on the edges of cliffs. She needed to get over this. It was the only way to do it. Alice was right. The more ways that Marnie could take off if she needed to escape, the safer she would be. It was why Alice was still working with her to strengthen the muscles in her legs so Marnie could take off vertically, jumping straight up from the ground. There wasn’t a trampoline here where Marnie could practice her vertical leaps, but there were plenty of gyms scattered all over the Factory where Alice could show Marnie how to work out. Squats and lunges, leg lifts with the machines, even time on the treadmill, although Marnie soon argued her way out of that.
