CHAPTER 17 Dr. Jacob is wearing wide-rimmed glasses today, the kind that would make most women look dowdy, but she’s well-dressed and young enough to pull it off, even though they slip down her nose like a pair of spectacles as we talk about my past. “So you both went to different colleges?” she asks as she reads what I managed to write about Chris. “Yeah, but he transferred to Spokane our junior year.” She nods without a hint of surprise, so I wonder if she’s already read that part and is just saying something to fill in the silence. “And your episode with the depression?
