CHAPTER 8 After the show, Chris and I went out to Paradise Bistro. I was a little surprised, because Annie’s was a fancier restaurant and where we’d celebrated my birthday the summer before. But tonight it was Paradise, and when we got to our table, there was a small crystal bottle waiting for us. “What’s this?” I picked it up. There was no label. Chris grinned. “Raspberry cordial.” I didn’t even know the stuff existed outside of Prince Edward Island. I suppose I could have guessed, but the only time I’d heard of it was in Anne of Green Gables. Chris knew that was one of my favorite books, not because Anne is so bewitchingly charming and imaginative but because it’s probably the sweetest romance in all of literature.
