When I got his call after finishing my last class of the day, I immediately rushed to the local precinct where Irene greeted me. I’d never been so grateful to know that Irene, Caroline’s college friend, and Troy’s sister, Tiffany’s, fiancée, had been tasked with overseeing Troy after a very drunken display of public disturbance.
“Don’t tell Caroline,” is all he said before hanging up, which infuriated me knowing that Troy had left an ill Caroline to get drunk. But deep down I knew he had a reason for his behavior, to go to such lengths when Caroline needed him the most right now.
“It looks like someone’s already paid for Troy’s bail,” Irene informed me, hand on the hip of her officer uniform with a grim expression.
“Who?”
