3217 Words
December 8, 2018. Saturday. Late in the afternoon, Lynette attended the welcome party for Karen and her family at their family residence after coming from the awarding ceremony at Sunshine Publishing Company. Lynette’s family and friends already knew that she won the contest because she posted the photo of the trophy with the caption – Finally Made It! As she went home to her apartment unit after the welcome party, Lynette was surprised by her family. They were all at her apartment for an impromptu victory party. In the midst of all the celebration, something caught her attention – a basketful of blush pink roses with a sealed envelope. She asked, “Who got me the basketful of roses?” He mother said, “It was delivered early this evening while we were preparing for your victory party.” She opened the envelope and read the note with a love poem and short message – Miss Lyn, A true blue artist In visuals, letters, and notes That is who you are I am really proud to say That I am in love with you When I first met you, I got the chance to see how you are as an excellent storyteller and as a singer. Your arts and crafts were all thoughtfully and excellently done too. I wasn’t just amazed by your beauty but more so your talents and your genuine affection towards children.  You wore the brooch, the earrings, and the necklace. Thanks for such. I really appreciate it. I  hope that once I reveal myself that you will already be ready to let someone in again. Congratulations on winning the writing contest at SPC. You finally made it! Your Secret Admirer. Daddy Leonardo asked, “Are they from your secret admirer again?” She nodded her head for approval with a certain glow of inner happiness in her eyes. He loves her. Her secret admirer has finally admitted his feelings. Mommy Evangeline commented, “Based from all his love poems and messages, I feel that he's a good man who truly cares for you.” Her Kuya Leo teased, “Let’s just hope he's good looking or else your fantasy will shatter.” Ate Cindy said, “Hey, don’t spoil this day for her!” Her Kuya Ed asked, “Did he already tell you when he will reveal himself?” Ate Rina remarked, “At least this guy is so thoughtful unlike some other guys out there.” As the celebration come to an end, her parents stayed over. She asked her father to review the contract that was handed to her that afternoon.  Her father advised her to maintain the copyright to her book and just give SPC the license to publish all three books for maximum of two years each. She would also receive 50 % of all the net sales within those two years of publication. After those two years, any succeeding publication of the three books would  mean  royalties  of 10 %.   Her parents stayed until she signed the contract the following Monday.   After the contract signing, the plans for the book launched were discussed. Lynette presented the pop art version of her storybook along with the push button contraption that plays her lullaby. The executives were all very amazed with her ideas. As for the marketing strategy, she would have the storytelling session like in the video shown to them. She was made aware that one of the investors shared her storytelling video and they all agreed that it would be a perfect marketing strategy. It didn’t take a long while for her to figure out that such investor, who leaked her storytelling video, was Gabriel. Alyzza might have also sent him a DVD copy of the videos and photos of the birthday party celebration Raegan and Megan. On the other hand, Dylan decided not to bother Lynette anymore but it didn’t stop him from checking on her every once in a while from afar whether in front of the apartment building she lives every morning as she drives to work and/or in front of her store as she drives there from the school during lunch break or in the evening as she closes her store. She really seemed to be much happier without him. How could he be so unfortunate not to be with her anymore?  He was willing to change for her, understand her more, support her more, and love her more. But he couldn’t. He wouldn’t be able to handle what his future father-in-law might do once he didn’t marry Mikaela. His days were numbered as their wedding date approaches. December 16, 2018. Sunday. In the morning, she received the delivery with a bouquet of daisies, a big gift box, and an enveloped note with message – Miss Lyn, Good luck on your book launch. I’ll be there but I won’t reveal myself yet. It’s your day! Show them all your passion for storytelling. Take Care. Your Secret Admirer   The gift box contained a jewelry box for the fourth time. But  it came along with a complete outfit for her. The entire outfit is composed of Chanel purple tweed jacket, Dior white day dress,  Louboutin white high heels, and  Hermes white clutch. It even included Victoria’s Secret white mini lace bustier, white lace panty, and white lace-trimmed shorts. The Piaget jewelry box contained  white gold diamond earrings and  white gold diamond watch. Even if she didn’t like the idea of wearing the expensive outfit chosen for her by her secret admirer, it was way much better than what she intended to wear. Ten AM was the launch of ‘Mommy Cat and her Naughty yet Sweet Baby Kitten’, Lynette’s illustrated pop up musical children’s story book. It was a typical mother and son story but the characters were cats. Her pop up version idea was followed. She created the model for reproduction. For the lullaby, she had contacted an electronics expert, who is a friend of her Kuya Ed. Her brother’s friend had created a small IC chip that can play the lullaby by pushing a button. It is penny battery-operated. The version of the book she presented was further improved and she really liked the final output. Lynette got to meet all the executives and investors of the publishing company. Lynette got to meet Gabriel Altamonte again.  Gabriel was so happy that she opted to wear the entire outfit that he sent for her that morning. They were specifically chosen by Mommy Graciella when he asked for help. His aunt-mother was also very happy for Lynette in reaching for her ultimate dream. As he shook her hand tightly, Gabriel’s words were, “Are you ready for the book launch, Miss Lyn?” She smiled “I’m nervous, sir.” His piercing blue eyes really had an unexplainable effect on her. Gabriel responded, “You’re a natural around kids so you’ve got nothing to be nervous about.” He liked her sense of professionalism and courtesy. No wonder his godchildren loved her so much, she was so calm, sweet, kind and genuine. And she was really getting into his nerves. He was really so drawn to her sweet personality. She took such opportunity to thank him, “Thanks for giving me that business card and for sharing my storytelling video, sir” Gabriel acknowledged it, “Glad to be of help. You’re really an excellent children’s story writer, illustrator, and teller!  You deserve to win. I just merely made them see your invaluable worth as a true blue artist.” Gabriel also requested a selfie with her. Then the editor-in-chief volunteered to take a photo of them together. Such had made Lynette so happy, but she tried very hard for such not to be very obvious. How she wished Gabriel was her secret admirer? But she knew that was impossible. The genius doctor was just a perfect gentleman. As soon as the children arrived, the book launching started with a storytelling session with the children. The children as well as their parents really loved it. Lynette’s entire family and her three best friends along with the children had all been there to support her. At one point, Kuya Leo had approached Gabriel Altamonte. He introduced himself to the famous surgeon as Lynette’s eldest sibling and personally thanked him for saving Lynette from Dylan. The genius surgeon had humbly appreciated his gratitude. After a few days, the first batch of printed copies amounting to a total of 10 000 copies all over Missi had all been sold out. More copies were immediately printed nonstop for its nationwide demand. December 22, 2018. Saturday. In the morning, Lynette, Alyzza, Cheryl and Karen had a midmorning gathering at her apartment. They saw the midmorning delivery of  box of blush pink roses,  basket of fruits,  congratulatory cake, and balloons as they arrived. Cheryl immediately asked, “Are they all from your secret admirer again, Lyn?” Lynette answered, “Yes. According to his message, my book is already the top selling book all over the country. SPC also sent me a message that more than three hundred thousand copies had already been sold in just a span of one week.” Karen expressed, “Then let’s eat that cake already. It is a very expensive and famous brand among the upper class. Your secret admirer could be very rich.” Alyzza then asked as Lynette was getting the plates, and cutleries, “Did he already say when he will reveal himself?” Lynette answered, “Not yet.” Cheryl asked, “When will you come home to the farm?” Lynette said, “On the 24th. Store hours is until 8 PM. Anyway, it would just be at most an hour drive.” Karen asked, “Then when will you be back?” Lynette answered, “I’ll be back in the afternoon of 25th. My work is here. So I cannot afford to slack. LT Atelier is doing very well.  My storybook is also doing well. I already need to make preparations for my next two books. I’m actually thinking of not renewing my teaching job anymore come next school year so I can focus more on LT Atelier and my next two books. I would need more time creating my arts and crafts.” Alyzza suggested, “Or you could just hire some artisans to assist you with all your arts and crafts. You have all your designs patented anyway.” Lynette said, “I need to assess my finances first by the end of the year. Everything just happened so fast. I opened up an actual store for LT Atelier and got published both within just a month’s time. Honestly, I’m getting a headache with all of these.” Cheryl remarked, “Well that’s the price of being successful. Just wait until you’re very famous already then your privacy will become less and less.”  Lynette’s smartphone rang. It was from the secretary of the editor-in-chief of the children’s book department of SPC. Lynette:    Yes, Miss Lyn speaking. Secretary: Yes, good morning Miss Lyn. We would just like to inform you that the sales of your books had already reached more than half a million copies. There were also demands from other countries. The office is receiving lots of inquiries about booking a private storytelling session with you. For now, we are telling them that you’re still very busy with your schedule. But the bosses want you to personally handle this matter. SPC can just hold storytelling session for your book tour and not for any private request. Lynette:    I understand. I will personally handle this matter. Thanks for informing me. Secretary: That’s all, Miss Lyn. Merry Christmas! Lynette:    Merry Christmas too. Alyssa asked, “What is that all about? Do you have a book signing schedule for today?” Lynette answered, “The book signing schedule will resume by the 26th. I was just notified that the sales had surpassed half a million copies already and there are also demands for my book abroad. There are also lots of people inquiring for a private storytelling.” Karen suggested, “You should get yourself a team who will handle all the matters regarding your books, private storytelling bookings, etc. You must be steps ahead of everything. You will soon be very famous coz you’re an excellent storyteller. Your popularity can transcend abroad. There are demands for it in other countries anyway.” Lynette felt anxious, “Oh my! Oh my!” Cheryl added, “You should also get yourself a personal assistant or a personal secretary. Karen and I can always help out with fashion-related anyway.” “Then I can help out with your travel arrangements,” Alyzza then declared, “But let us not pressure her that much for now. She’ll eventually get to her senses. Let’s just enjoy this get together. We will all be very busy on the coming days.” Lynette then asked, “So what will you want for lunch?” Her three friends chorused, “Your Chicken Piccata Pasta!” She replied, “Good! Coz I already prep the chicken breasts.” Karen exclaimed, “This is what I missed the most when I was abroad – our get together with Lyn’s home-cooked meals.” Lynette recalled, “Cher said the same thing when she arrived from her modeling stints abroad.” Cheryl stated, “Because the food there are very much different. I also miss going to your family farm, Lyn.” Lynette told her, “My bedroom there is much bigger now. I have the entire attic just for myself. I already converted my old bedroom as the kids’ bedroom and playroom.” Alyzza spoke, “Yeah, Rae and Mae saw your old i********: post with Liam and Ella in that room last Holy Week. They were asking me to have something like that for them.” Lynette shared, “I just kind of designed it. We hired the carpenter to execute my ideas. Dad had also done another project for the kids. Remember the old treehouse we used to hangout whenever all of us would spend some weekends there when we were younger?” Her three best friends’ chorused, “Yes.” “I had kind of designed a bigger one. Dad had hired a carpenter to build it. Liam and Ella are already enjoying it. Dad had sent me some photos early this morning. I can take Rae and Mae sometimes there,” Lynette said. “It has slide, swings, climbing wall, climbing cargo net, and monkey bars.” Karen requested, “Lyn, you should also take Caleb there when he is already as old as Rae and Mae.” Lynette agreed, “Of course, I will. I don’t mind being a nanny to my godchildren every once in a while. Besides you’re all welcome to visit Dad and Mom even if I’m not around there.”     During that get together, the four best friends also exchanged Christmas gifts. Lynette gave each a Michael Kors Jaryn gold steel bangle watch, similar to hers. Alyzza gave each a Pandora linked love yellow gold ring for their pinky finger similar to hers. Karen gave each a pair of Adidas Falcon sneakers similar to hers. Cheryl gave each an ash rose Burberry light weight check wool and silk scarf similar to hers. When Lyn got home to her parents’ by Christmas Eve, she told them her issues. “Dad, Mom, what will I do? I’m getting much busier.” Her father said, “I can always handle the legal matters of your book deals.” She imparted, “SPC is receiving lots of inquiries for private storytelling sessions. What do I do with them?”  Her mother said, “Hire a personal secretary to help you out with your schedules and all.” She asked, “What about LT Atelier?” Daddy Leonardo said, “Hire more employees to help you out. Those seven employees you already have won’t suffice for all the demands.” She told them her misgivings, “I need both of your help regarding these matters, Dad, Mom. I need someone I can fully trust. My teaching contract with AMS will terminate by the end of May. I won’t renew anymore. But until then, I want the both of you to help me out in all these changes happening to my life. I don’t think I can handle everything on my own right now.” Her parents reached a decision. Her father voiced it out, “Okay, we’ll help you settle but only until the end of May.” She felt relieved, “Thanks, Dad, Mom.” When she returned to Absedaire City the following day, her book sales already reached more than a million copies. The secretary of her editor-in-chief also informed her that there had been demands for the hand puppets and teacups she used in her storytelling session. There were also endorsement offers. As she checked her i********: account, she had noticed that from a few thousand followers, she already got multimillions of followers. Her public account had also been verified. She started such account when she started working as a copy writer. Her posts were just usually work-related, family-related, and friends-related. She wasn’t fond of posting her selfies or even her relationship happenings.  When she updated her bio the morning before her book launch, she had been so overwhelmingly happy that finally she could write Published Children’s Storybook Author/Illustrator along with LT Atelier Owner/Artist and Proud Pre-school Teacher    As she browsed her followers, she had noticed that there were celebrities and famous personalities. Dr. Graciella Altamonte was among them. She had become much closer to the famous plastic surgeon/dermatologist. Before her book launch, she sought the professional help of the famous dermatologist for facial care, hair removal, and hand care. She opted for natural treatments and her natural beauty products. Unbeknownst to her, the famous beauty expert had not been charging her with the full price of the services and products she avails. She was receiving a special discount as the lady love of the doctor’s nephew-son. Meanwhile, Dylan felt that Lynette had already blocked him on her i********: account. When he tried to check her i********: posts over the holidays, he couldn’t see any of her content. He felt devastated. He couldn’t approach her anymore. Then he couldn’t even see her posts on i********:. That was her only social media account. He wouldn’t even be able to see her from afar because he noticed that someone had been following him around. At one point, he had seen Mikaela. Then lately, it had been the security personnel of Mikaela’s father. Mikaela had become much clingy to him right after the public announcement of their wedding engagement. She had been initiating more intimacy. His excuse on not giving in so much was sense of propriety. But with Lynette depriving him of s*x for so long, he wasn’t able to prevent himself from giving in to Mikaela’s sensuous charm.  In public, Mikaela is a prim and proper doctor but privately, she is a charming sensual vixen to him. He liked it but that’s not enough for him to long for Lynette’s tender loving care.
