Lisa's eyes flickered, not looking at Daniel.
"I know you're upset about that man." Daniel's gentle gaze spilled over Lisa as if it were a spring breeze, bringing her a slight warmth.
"But you did well. You got away from him and started a new life." Daniel's gaze was full of love and heartache, "You're very smart and brave!"
Lisa looked up at Daniel's open face, her nose a little sore.
It was as if Daniel had gone back to when they had first met, the same teacher she had respected, gentle, amiable, sunny, delicate, who would heal all the wounds in Lisa's body and make her happy and brave.
