My fingers grazed the curtain, I couldn't help but repeat that strange thing Aamon had done with his lips. As I did, I felt a shiver run down my spine. That's when it hit me that he was still watching me from across his room.
My heart skipped a beat, racing violently as I imagined the consequences of what has just happened. Yes I had gotten my pleasure and it felt saw good but then that douchebag had seen me.
Without thinking, on instinct I yanked the curtain shut, as if the fabric could shield me from the shame inside me. I took a deep breath hidding behind the curtain, my chest heaving as I struggled to calm my emotions.
My fingers twitched, unconsciously tugging at the edge of the curtain. Questions and worries drowned my mind. "Will he tell others? Especially his sister? Can I still go to school tomorrow?"
Easy I was going go to sleep, wake up the next morning and pretend none of this happened, this was the only plan I had in mind. I slowly made my way to bed, covered myself with the covers and shut my eyes close but I so more than sure knew that I wasn't going to have a goodnight sleep. I was fighting with myself but I couldn't get out of my head what just happened, most especially the way his eyes never stopped looking at me. How was I ever going to go back to school?
Early in the morning, I was awoken by a text from an unknown number, "I'm happy to be your object of release, Haven. Whenever, wherever you want."
This had me screaming my lungs out, waking my mom up, she doesn't get up early since she is always tired from the night shift.
"Haven!!" My mom's voice screeched in worry from across the house. It didn't take long before she burst into my room, concern etched on her face. "Haven, what's wrong?!"
I quickly scratched my head, scrambling for an excuse, not wanting to worry her, there was no way I was telling her about the stupid messege. "It's nothing mom, I just saw a cockroach, that's all."
She looked relieved but still a bit worried. "Okay, sweetie, but are you sure you're okay?"
I nodded, trying to reassure her. But inside, I was a volcanic mess that was about to erupt anytime from now.
The mysterious text message had brought back all the anxiety from yesterday. I wasn't sure I even had the guts to show up to school today. How about I played sick! Mom would for sure fall for it. She'll give me plenty of tablets and cover me with all those blankets but it will be worth it.
"You're sure, you ain't hiding anything from me?" Mommy asked, here came in her excessive worry. I don't blame her though, she was just being a mom.
"No!" I exclaimed, "Ofcourse not!"
"Is everything fine at school?"
I gulped, "Yes it's fine. Am just worried about the upcoming tests, like everyone else." I lied. There was no way I was staying home not with all these questions she was firing at me.
"I know how much you concerned about that scholarship, but I don't need you to pressure yourself too much, honey," she pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head. Her words were always so cormforting.
"Thank you, mom," I smiled at her, "I'll try."
If only she knew that tests were less of my worries.
"Come on, get ready and hurry before the bus leaves you, she got up from my bed, kissed the top of my head before walking out of my room with a heavy yawn. She must have worked over time.
After she left I hurridely went to the bathroom, washed my face, brushed my hair and took a bath very quickly. I had to get ready quickly or I would miss the bus. Next, yanked the brush through my tangled locks, wincing as it caught on a knot. I didn't have time for this, but I couldn't go to school looking like a mess.
I finished combing my hair, chose the first attire that came to my mind, a black crochet top and a pair of jeans. I grabbed my backpack, shoving my books and lunch inside. I took one last look in the mirror, ensuring I looked presentable.
Then I sprinted out the door, my heart racing. I could see the bus in the distance, its taillights fading as it pulled away from the stop. I ran as fast as I could, my backpack bouncing behind me. But no matter how hard I ran, I couldn't catch up. I was doomed!!
I stood there, feeling defeated, as the bus drove away without me. But then, a familiar scent hit me like a ray of sun. The smell of honey and moonlight sailed in the air, and my heart skipped a beat. It was him, Aamon Blackwood!
As the scent drew closer, I felt a stir within me. My wolf, I could sense Nixx's excitement, her longing to be near Aamon's wolf.
I tried to resist, but my body seemed to have a mind of it's own. I turned towards the scent, my eyes landed on a sleek, shinning black Chevrolet Camaro that stopped right infront of me.
Aamon stuck out his head through the window and rudely asked me to get in but I didn't want to.
I thought by rejecting him, the mate bond would be broken but I guess I was wrong. I could feel its pull, so strong, drawing me to Blackwood like a magnet. I wanted to get closer, to inhale his scent and feel his warmth.
Nixx growled in agreement, her voice echoing in my mind. "Go to him, Haven. He is our mate. Claim him ours."
