"Wait, Nur" he screamed. Nur Jahan turned but instead of a lamp, she was holding a small baby with blue eyes who was wearing a crown. The bright light was emitting from both their faces. " Goodbye my Sultan, our journey together has ended." " Nur, Nur" he was screaming. Sultan Shazeb woke up trembling all covered in sweat. He straight away called for an oneirocritic( Dream interpreter) and explained to him his dream "Your Highness Princess Nur Jahan was the woman who would have given you an heir. Did you forget you had blue eyes? I think since she is no more she wants you to move on in life and look after the people in your kingdom. Her soul was restless because of the love she had for her. That was a final goodbye from her." " What is the meaning of holding that child? A few years back after Nur Jahan's accident which caused her to lose the ability to have a child. King Shazeb saw a dream that he was standing in King Hamad's palace and a lady with a veil entered his chambers holding the child with striking blue eyes and wearing a crown. Their(Nur's father's) dream interpreter predicted that he would have a child who would be a great ruler and the woman represented a princess from Hamad's family. The next day, the blue-eyed Seema caught his attention. She was Nur Jahan's paternal cousin. He connected the dream to her, forgetting he had blue orbs. He narrated the dream and its interpretation to Nur and her father. Nur's father convinced rather blackmailed and forced Nur to agree to his marriage with princess Seema. " Your royal highness, I think it was not princess Seema but the princess Nur Jahan who was bearing that child. She left and the child left with her. That's why she told you to concentrate on the kingdom and its subjects." I was completely shattered hearing this. I just saw a dream and followed and chased it like a fool. All my attraction and care towards Seema were just misconceptions. If only I had not been blinded, I would not have lost my Nur. I accepted all the unacceptable conditions of Seema without thinking about Nur. Even though I lost Nur, I will try to be the king she always wanted me to be. It was 4 months since Shazeb lost Nur Jahan. He missed her a lot but her death opened his eyes. He was more into the welfare of my kingdom. He worked tirelessly for the welfare of his subjects, his kingdom was flourishing. Later Seema gave birth to a beautiful princess, kulsum, not a Prince. " Shah, why do you not love me like before? I agree that I just said a lie, but trust me, I never wanted Nur Jahan to go out of your life". She came near him and pecked his lips. " Shah, please forgive me." " Seema, I don't blame you, it was all my fault. I was not the same person who Nur fell in love with. I think she deserved better. That's why God took her away from all the pain I gave her, she took my heart with her. Don't worry, I will give you all the rights as a husband should give his wife. You and our daughter will be provided with the same luxuries as before. I have lost my ability to love now. It is just that now I know how to balance life. I wish I had learned this when my Beloved was alive." After a year, Shahzeb visited Seema. "I am here to inform you that I am getting a new wife by the end of this month. Princess Afshan of a neighbouring kingdom. Don't worry, I won't repeat the same mistake. You will both get the same time as me. I will try to be fair." " You said you wouldn't marry again." " I promised many things to my Nur Jahan but I failed her. I want to focus on my kingdom now and this marriage benefits my people. I assure you you won't suffer what Nur went through because of you and your conditions. Princess Afshan is very polite and will be a good co-wife. " Shahzeb recalled his conversation with Nur. " Sultan, I don't want to marry you." " Why Nur Jahan? " "All the kings have multiple wives and I don't want to end up like my mother. Waiting for her turn when her husband arrived. I am not into ornaments and luxuries. I would rather marry a commoner, maybe a soldier, and be his only wife. I want to be the queen of my husband, not any kingdom. I want to spend my nights with my husband listening to his daily routine, cooking for him with my hands, doing sword fights with him. My dreams are different from yours. I am sorry. Please find someone else. I am not the one for you" " Nur Jahan, please I promise you that I will not take another wife till you are alive and you will be my only love. I cannot imagine anyone else as my wife. Please, Nur, agree. I will try to be the husband of your dreams. I promise Nur, please let me in. " All my promises to her were lies and deception. I did not even once think about her. She agreed to be my wife after so much pleading. What I did, I broke her heart. She fainted when I divorced her. Not once did I feel her pain. A part of me died along with her, now I cannot love anyone. I will just fulfil my responsibilities to the throne and kingdom. Seema just cried. There was nothing she could do. Things would have been better for her if Nur Jahan had been there. Now she realised Nur Jahan was always and would be his love and she was just a temporary infatuation. He would never have married again if Nur was alive. She was just left as one of his four wives, nothing more. He made Nur Mahal his official residence. None of his wives were permitted to enter it. He usually spends most of his time there with the memories of his beloved. A wife who he lost because of his anger. In a few years' time, he married twice again. They were all political weddings and he tried to be fair with them. He had children with all of them who he loved dearly. All his wives knew the only woman who ruled his heart was his late wife and his first love, Nur Jahan. His daughter, from his wife Afshan, Nur Ul Ain, was his favourite. She demanded his attention. She reminded him of his Nur. He named her after his beloved ex-wife. The only good outcome was that his subjects were happy. His kingdom prospered. Deep inside he was a broken man.
