Brianna had barely reached the helm in time to strap herself to it with a bit of rope when the wave surged over the side of the ship. There was a terrifying moment of suspension as the Sea Serpent nearly capsized, and then the water burst across the deck and straight into her. Sea SerpentThe impact knocked the breath out of her. Black water enveloped her, trying with all of its might to rip her free of the sturdy wooden helm. Chest burning, she fought off the urge to breathe. She loved the sea, but at times like this it frightened her. Storms were always dangerous, but ones like this were made to destroy ships like hers. The wave passed, and not a moment too soon.
