Chapter Three - First tutoring session

1745 Words
Ruby's P.O.V It was a quarter to six in the evening, which meant Cole would be here soon for my first tutoring lesson. I appreciated that he was willing to help me, but at the same time, I have the challenge to complete after all. I decided to start right now. I pulled on a pair of booty shorts and a crop top, pulling my hair into a messy bun and applied some lippy. I looked in the mirror, smacking my lips together. "Time to play," I smirked to myself. With that, I heard a gentle knock at my front door, that must be Cole. I put on my sweetest smile before heading to the door. I opened it to be met with Cole looking like a nervous wreck. He looked up and when he saw me, saw the clothes I was in, his brown eyes fell to the skin of my stomach and then to my thighs. I smirked, and when he finally looked at my face, he realised he was caught. "Sorry." He stuttered out, looking at everywhere except me. "It is fine. Come in." I said, stepping to the side. "Thank You." He said politely. As he walked by me, my eyes fell on his ass, hmm he has a nice ass on him. I pulled my eyes away from his ass before he caught me. He stood in the middle of the hallway nervously. "We are going upstairs to my room. My dad will be home soon, and he does not like being disturbed." I said. "Um...OK." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. I went upstairs in front of him, and I swear I felt his eyes burning into my ass. I giggled to myself, heading into my room, Cole following behind nervously. Again like downstairs, he stood in the middle of the room awkwardly and not knowing what to do or say. I headed over sitting on my bed. "Cole, you can sit down. Come here; there is plenty of room for books and stuff." I smiled. He nodded, giving me a shy smile before joining me on my bed, pulling his bag from his shoulder, pulling out books, notes and notepads. He sat them out in front of us, not speaking a single word to me as he did. "We are better getting started with Algebra because that will be the next test." He said, still refusing to look at me. "OK, whatever you think is best," I said, laying down on my stomach on my bed. Cole, however, stayed sitting at the edge of the bed. This boy needs to relax. "Cole, you can sit on the bed properly. Just kick your shoes off, get comfortable and relax. I don't bite." I giggled. "Sorry. I am not used to being around girls, especially girls like you." He said his cheeks flushing bright red. I bit down on my lip to stop myself from giggling, not at the fact he is nervous about being around girls; it was more because he was pretty adorable. "It is OK." I smiled at him. He slid his shoes off, shifting, so he was sitting on the bed right. He crossed his legs over, grabbing a book and some paper. "I want you to try doing these? I will check them when you are finished. That way, I can work out what you struggle with the most." He said, finally sharing eye contact with me for the first time since he arrived. I nodded, doing as he asked. I struggled severely with some of them, making me feel like an i***t. I was getting frustrated with myself. All of a sudden I felt a hand on mine, making me jump a little, Cole letting out a small chuckle. "Ruby you need to relax, the more worked up you get, the worst you are going to make it for yourself. Relax and do your best." He said softly. I nodded, taking a few deep breaths before getting back to it. It took me nearly forty minutes to answer six questions, but I got there. I passed them to him, nervously chewing on my pen as he went over them. "You got four out of six right; you did not bad." He smiled, "Let me see your pen please?" He added. I passed it to him. "I will show you how to do them." He smiled. I sat listening and observing him. I needed to get my math grade up, no matter how much I hate the subject. He explained them to me step by step. "You got it?" He asked softly. "Yes, I think so. Thank you." I smiled back at him. ********** Cole and I had been studying for the last two hours, and I needed a break. Yes, it was helping, but if I never stopped for a bit, I will lose it. "Can we take a break please?" I asked, hopefully. "Yeah, sure. I will need to head home in the next hour anyway." He said. "You want a drink or a snack?" I asked. "A drink please." He said in barely a whisper. I nodded, standing up, motioning him to follow me back downstairs to the kitchen. I was not surprised when I saw my father was not back. He is a workaholic that has no time for me at all even though he was all I had. My mother took off with my older sister when I was six. I have not seen or heard from her since hence why I get my attention from other places. "There is plenty to drink in the fridge. You sure you don't want anything to eat?" I asked. "I am OK, thank you, though." He smiled. I made myself a sandwich and grabbed a drink too. I heard the front door open, telling me my dad was home. "Hi, daddy." I smiled at him. All he gave me was a grunt before walking straight by me, heading into his office. I sighed, shaking my head. A simple hi would not have taken much effort, would it? Every day was the same, and it still hurt. "Ruby, you OK?" I heard a voice say, pulling me out of my world I went into. "I am fine." I said with my best fake smile, "Better get back to it." I added. I put my head down, walking by him and rushing back to my room. I got straight back to studying, trying to distract myself. Cole soon joined me, and I could feel him looking at me. "Ruby, you seem upset. Is everything OK?" He asked. "Fine!" I found myself snapping at him a little. "I should go. Text me when you want your next session." He said, putting his shoes on, grabbing his stuff, walking out. I felt terrible for snapping at him, but my relationship with my dad is a sensitive subject for me. I decided I had enough math for the night. I threw my things on the floor, grabbing my earphones, getting lost in the music. I decided to text Cole, apologise to him. Ruby to Cole: Sorry I snapped at you, I never meant too. Thank you for your help tonight xox I would not blame him if he never texts back, but a few moments later, my phone beeped. Cole: It is OK, don't worry about   Ruby: Can we have another session tomorrow straight after school?   Cole: Sure. Do you want to come to mine this time?   Ruby: Yes, that will be fine. I am going to go to sleep cause really tired. Night Cole, see you tomorrow at school xox   Cole: See you tomorrow. Night Ruby x With that, I put my phone down, getting into my pjs. It was not even nine pm, but I was exhausted tonight, an early night would do me good. I lay in bed, getting lost on my own head before my thoughts turned to Cole. I was trying to work out when I should make a move or at least start because I had a feeling it was not going to be that easy to get him. I would work out something, I tossed and turned, trying my best to sleep but was failing. I decided I would text Cole again. Ruby: Hi. Are you still awake? I can't sleep xx. I smiled when a text came through only a moment later. Cole: Hey. Yes, still awake. Why can't you sleep?   Ruby: Dunno. What are you doing?   Cole: Nothing much bored. Why are you texting me? You have other people I am sure you would rather text?   Ruby: Cause I wanted too. Do you want me to stop? I think he was a bit wary about me texting him and I can't blame him. Cole: No, of course not. I am just wondering that is all.   Ruby: OK. Do you want to hang out?   Cole: Not a little late?   Ruby: It is not even ten, but if you don't wanna it is OK.   Cole: OK. I will come by and pick you up if you like?   Ruby: OK. See you xox I smiled, pulling some clothes on, grabbing my phone before heading out to wait for him. There was no point telling my dad; he probably will not even notice that I am away. I had no clue what we could do. I am sure we would come up with something between us. I shivered as the cold air hit my body, I should have brought a jacket. I sat down on my front step, waiting for Cole. Not too long after Cole pulled up. I smirked, jumping to my feet, heading over to the car, climbing in. "Hi." I smiled widely. "Um…Hello." He said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. I giggled, his nervousness was kind of sweet. "Where too?" He whispered. "I have a perfect place." I smiled, putting where I wanted to go into his satnav. He looked at it before looking at me, looking a little confused. "The woods?" He said. "Yes. There is a spot there I really like. It looks onto a beautiful river; the surrounding area is beautiful. It is my safe place, it is very peacefully, no one around to bother me. You scared to go to the woods in the dark?" I giggled. "What? No. I don't make a habit of going into the woods at ten pm." He said, laughing. I smiled as I watched him. I liked his laugh; it was cute and dorky. Wait? What? Snap out of it. I had the challenge to complete, not sit and think to myself how cute he is. I gave myself a shake, pulling myself together. "Let's get going." I smiled. He nodded, and we were soon on the road to our destination. It was about thirty minutes away from my house. At least I will be alone with him.
