He stepped out of the car and closed the door. He waved and turned to go up the stairs. A few of our guards escorted him.
"James," I say, fixing my seat belt.
"Yes, ma'am," he responds, his hand tightening around the steering wheel.
"Let's make this quick, shall we?"
"Understood. I'll use the scenic route."
James, the Edwards family driver, already knew the drill. He'd lost count how many times Christine had left one thing or another at home, and he needed to race back and get it himself. This time, Mrs. Edwards was with him, which didn't happen often, but he didn't mind. He has always thought of her as a daughter, and he really enjoyed working for her family. They were always good to him and his wife.
"We are here." James said, stopping the car in front of her house.
"Quick as always, thanks, James." Chris said as she got out of the car.
"You're welcome, ma'am," he said with a proud smile.

She couldn't even be mad at him. Laughing to herself, she rushed up the stairs all the way to her office.
The house was unusually quiet, but she didn't care. They didn't have that many servants, but it's morning, so she should have bumped into at least one of the workers.
Her thoughts disappeared as she spotted her briefcase on a chair in her study. She quickly scanned through them to make sure all of the papers were there and in perfect order.
Silvermount had begun negotiations to create treaties with some of the American packs going through tough times. Our plan is to offer money and resources and have them as allies in the long run. A few delegates from the packs had arrived yesterday, and because we are weary about revealing our home before the treaties we signed, the meeting was taking place in the city.
