Amber's POV
"We are here." The driver informed me after a short ride from the gate.
I jerked my head up and rubbed my sleepy eyes. Ace had handed me to the driver who brought me and had left without a warning. I didn't need him to warn me twice after his threats. Endangering Tom's life was the last thing I'd do.
Although I wondered where he had gone to and if I would meet his nephew yet. I hoped the poor boy didn't die.
I stepped down and gaped at the large beautiful compound. There was a water fountain sitting elegantly in the center. A garden of flowers arrayed the lawn. The fountain glittered in the sunlight as breeze blew softly, stirring the petals around and sending them gently dancing in all directions.
It was indeed befitting for his status. I wondered how many Packs were within his jurisdiction as I noticed men dressed in dark suits standing at different angles of the compound.
"Ma'am." The driver interrupted my wandering thoughts.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
Just then the front door swung open almost immediately and a middle-aged woman strolled out of the house with a smile on her face.
"Welcome." She greeted me.
"Thank you." At least someone was happy to see me.
I exhaled as I stepped into the house which would be mine for one year as stated in the contract I signed. Would I ever get used to this type of life? It was above my standard.
I padded through the entryway into the big spacious well-furnished living area when I heard another car drive into the compound.
Releasing a sigh, I plopped on one of the cream sofas. Would he not give me sometime before he arrived? I yearned to be alone for some hours to gather my thoughts.
"Where is she? Where is that b***h?" The voice got me rising up from the chair.
I glanced at the entryway wondering who that was.
It certainly wasn't Ace. I stared at the brown-haired beauty before me. Her feminine perfume announced her presence as it wafted into my nostrils causing her lips to curl upwards.
Any minute from now, I would puke all over the marble floors. The fragrance of her perfume was too strong for me. She announced herself through the entryway folding her arms while sizing me up with hateful eyes.
Her brown hair was pulled up into a tight bun. She was dressed in a black skinny jeans, a yellow floral tank top, and a red blazer.
She wore black heels and looked like a model.
Her eyes were cold. Cold as ice and full of disdain.
She broke in cackles before finally eyeing me with disdain. Again. Her eyes drilled holes into me and I felt uncomfortable. Was she someone I should have known?
"Good afternoon. Ace isn't-"
I watched in confusion as she released a deep throated laughter. Did today have to get anymore worse?
"Of course, I know that. I am not here for Lucien . I am here for you, you slut." She lashed out at me.
I flinched in fright and sunk into more confusion. Who was this? Why would she look for me?
The lady's face was contorted in an ugly sneer, lips peeled back over white teeth that gleamed like daggers in the early morning light.
"You know why I'm here, b***h. You should have known better than to steal what belongs to me. Now that I've seen you, I wondered what he must have been thinking when he allowed you into the house. You are not his type." She scoffed
Why was the lady being saucy? I flicked my gaze to the door praying that the lady who helped me in would save me before the brunette sunk her sharp manicured claws into me.
My motherly instinct kicked as she took slow strides towards me. I backed away from her wrapping my hands around my belly to protect my bump. I never could tell what she was planning to do and I would not wait until she showed me.
"I am Ace's wife. I should be doing the questioning here so who are you and what the hell are you doing in my husband's house!?" The lady yelled at me.
My lips parted in complete shock as her words reechoed in my ear. What was going on here?
