But Ryan glared at Katherine warily and pushed her away. "My mom doesn't have a sister!"
Katherine panicked. "Of course she does. My father is Eileen's father. We both have the last name Jones. I'm Auntie Katherine!"
Ryan hid behind Chris, peeking out cautiously at Katherine. Katherine seized the moment to introduce Chris to Ryan. "This is your uncle, my husband. Call him Uncle Chris."
She reached out to pull Ryan from behind Chris, but Ryan clung to Chris like an octopus, yelling, "I don't know any Auntie Katherine! Mom said if a stranger pretends to be family and tries to take me away, they're a kidnapper! Help, help!"
He looked up, his amber eyes, so similar to his mother's, pleading. "Sir, please help me! Call the police!"
Katherine froze, her smile faltering.
