“I trust him, he is not like that.” I told him angrily and he burst out laughing. I wished I could just choke him right then. “Wanna bet? Come with me and let’s see… if I was right, you would stay my roommate, but if you were right and he didn’t even touch a girl there, then I will move out today and you can have the place to yourself.” He said challengingly and I looked at him suspiciously. “Why do you want to stay with me? You could have said that I need to move out if you win.” I asked him and he looked deep into my eyes. “Do you think I am that cruel? I know that you probably have nowhere to go.” Good point, he knows I am an orphan. “So? Deal?” He asked and held his hand out to me to shake it and close the deal. “I trust Ryker, so why not?” I told him confidently and shook his hand. I hope I won’t regret this. “I have a private question though. Did you guys have s*x already?” He asked shamelessly and my face turned crimson red. “What? How could you ask something like that so simply?” I yelled at him and he chuckled. “I take that as a no.” He said and I glared at him in disbelief. “In that case I am sure I will win. Get dressed, we are living in thirty.” He said and walked into his room before I could protest. 'He is so annoying.' I let out a loud groan as I got up from the chair. Actually, this is a good deal. I will get to live alone and I won’t ever need to tell Ryker about Kevin being my roommate because he will be out of the room within today. I walked into my room and got ready. I was excited about seeing him. I missed him already. I wore a simple dress with not so much makeup and walked out of my room to see Kevin in the living room without a t-shirt on. I didn’t even bother to tell him to wear one in the common areas because he wouldn’t be my roommate for so long. “I am ready.” I told him and he turned around and stared at me. After a few seconds, he cleared his throat and looked away. “You were fast, I am ready in a minute too.” He said and wore his shirt quickly. “Let’s go.” He said and we walked out of the room. I tried to keep some distance between us while we were walking. I didn’t want people to get the wrong idea. We walked to his car and got in. “Listen, it doesn’t matter what you see in there, come and find me before you leave, okay?” He said seriously and I nodded my head a bit confused. I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach, he seemed to be so sure I would catch Ryker cheating on me and I got nervous as we got closer to their house. I saw him looking at me from the corner of his eyes from time to time and finally we arrived after half an hour. We got out of the car and I could already hear the loud music. I looked at Kevin who had a pitiful look on his face, which made me angry. “Don’t look at me like that, I trust him, he would never cheat on me.” I told him and he just nodded his head with the same expression like he was already sorry for me while he led me into the house. “Did he even invite you?” Kevin asked over the loud music and I just shook my head. “Baby….” Someone whined… wait… I know that voice. “What is she doing here, did you bring her?” Jade asked as she threw herself at Kevin, who just nodded his head towards the stairs, motioning for me to go and I didn’t waste my time with arguing with Jade, I just climbed up the stairs. There were a lot of rooms. 'How should I know if he was even in one of them? I can’t just walk into all of these rooms. This was the first time I had been here. I got an idea so I took my phone out of my purse and dialed Ryker’s number. He had a very loud ringtone and I had complained to him about it before. I didn’t know it would be helpful one day. I listened and I found the door where I heard his phone ringing and I opened the door slightly. “Hallo, princess? I can’t really talk now.” He said into the phone while panting and my heart broke from the sight in front of me. “I can see that.” I told him and he looked confused at first, but then he turned to me and dropped his phone onto the bed from the shock of seeing me. “Kylie?” He asked in disbelief as he pulled out of the blonde girl he was f*cking a few seconds ago while she protested and wanted more. “I am surprised that you even picked up my call when you were SO busy.” I told him with a shaking voice while my tears were falling, but I didn’t wait for his answer. I ran out of there as fast as I could. I heard him calling my name desperately, but I didn’t stop running. I can't believe Kevin was actually right. “Is there a back door?” I asked a girl and she pointed to me to a door. I didn’t want to go through those drunk people one more time, so I was glad when I found the back door of the house. I caught a cab right away. Luckily, one just passed by me, so I am on my way back to my dorm room in no time. 'I can’t believe Ryker was cheating on me. Who knows how many times and with how many girls already… Did he even love me at all?' I couldn’t stop my tears and my phone was ringing constantly, which annoyed me like hell. I knew it was him and I didn’t want to hear his pointless explanations. That a*sh*le took me for a fool and I believed him. I was too naive and kind. I trusted him… only him, since I had no one and even that one person betrayed me. The taxi driver asked me if I was okay a few times and after half an hour of driving, we arrived at school. After I got out of the car, I just stood in the front of the building, sobbing, I didn’t want to go inside. I had just started walking on the street towards the clearing where we usually had picnic dates with Ryker. It hurts so much, I have never felt a pain so strong as what I am feeling right now. There was a huge pushing and clenching feeling in my chest and I felt like I couldn't breathe properly. I had a similar feeling when my parents died, but since then, this is the first time I have been feeling like this. “Why? Why did you do this to me?” I asked no one in particular while I was sobbing loudly. “Why does everyone betray me or leave me who I care about?” I whispered to myself and cried for hours under a tree. I turned off my phone a long time ago and now I was just sitting there, looking ahead with a blank expression on my face. I felt nothing, I felt empty and weak. I felt like there was no purpose in my life anymore, like there was nothing to live for. I didn’t even feel the cold at that point. It was so calming to be here, alone, only listening to crickets and birds. I wished I could stay here forever. It’s so strange that you can be happy about something that you were sad about just a few hours ago. I mean, I was sad because Ryker didn’t get into NYU, but now I am glad actually because I don’t need to see him every day. ‘God, I am so alone in this huge world.’ I have decided to stop thinking about everything and just sleep. Maybe tomorrow I will see everything in a different light. I didn't even care where I was at this point, I just closed my eyes and drifted into a peaceful dream, hoping to wake up to a new and better day. * *** Kevin’s POV *** * ‘Where the hell is she already?’ I pushed Jade’s hand away from my d*ck for the hundredth time. She can’t take no for an answer and she still thinks that we are together. It was starting to piss me off, especially because I was only here because of Kylie. I didn’t want to come to this party, I just wanted her to finally see who Ryker really was, but I started to worry about her. I saw Ryker walking around in panic so I walked up to him. “Where is Kylie?” I asked him and he looked at me with narrowed eyes. “Why are you asking?” He asked back suspiciously. “She came with me, that’s why I am asking.” I told him simply and his face turned red. He grabbed me by my collar and looked at me like some kind of psycho. “What the f*ck do you mean she came with you?” He asked like a maniac and I let out a laugh. “Chill dude, I will tell you everything if you let me go.” I told him calmly and he let me go. “Talk.” He said while he put his phone on his ear, he was calling someone. I guess he was trying to reach Kylie. “Yes, I brought her here, she wanted to surprise you.” I lied, he didn’t need to know that I had challenged her. “Where did you even meet her?” He asked, still calling her. “There was a mistake in college and since our names started with a K, they paired us up in the same dorm room.” I told him and his face was about to explode. “How the hell did that happen?” he asked angrily. “So, since she wanted to find another room and there weren’t any free rooms available, we made a deal.” I told him with a smirk. I changed my mind and decided to tell him. It felt good for my ego. “What did you do, you m*the*f*cker?” He asked furiously and grabbed me again. “I told her what she would find if she came here. She said it was b*llsh*t and she trusts you, so I made a bet with her. If she comes here and you are behaving as a normal boyfriend should, then I will move out today and she can have the whole place to herself, but if she catches you cheating, then she will stay my roommate.” I told him and he punched me right away. “Son of a b**ch.” he tried to punch me again, but I was faster. We fought till we had the power, no one dared to come between us and I think they were also too drunk to care. In the end, we were just lying next to each other on the floor while panting and breathing heavily. Our faces were covered in blood and I couldn’t feel my right knuckles. We fought a lot with each other when we were children and we always ended up like this. “I love her,” Ryker said after a few minutes, and I looked at him in disbelief. Ryker Evans is in love with someone, unbelievable. “Then you ruined everything for yourself.” I told him and he nodded his head in defeat. “You should have told her you have needs and you can’t wait for her so much, she would have understood.” I told him and he covered his face with his palms. “I f*cked up everything, she won’t talk to me ever again. She has no one, just me.” He said and I could see his tears were rolling down his cheeks. I couldn’t believe my own eyes, he was literally crying because of a girl. “You are really whipped.” I told him with a chuckle while I sat up. “You should find her before she does something stupid, I am sure she is heartbroken right now.” I told him and he sat up too. “Yeah, do you think she went back to her room?” He asked desperately. “I don’t think so, she knows you will look for her there first. I will go and let you know if she is there.” I told him. “Okay, I will look for her at the places she knows. I think I know where she is. I would go there if I were her.” He said sadly and I nodded my head and we both stood up. We changed numbers and I headed home. I hope she is okay. I don’t know how I didn’t see her leaving. My whole body was hurting after our fight. I sat in my car and headed back to our dorm room. I know I won the bet, but then why did I feel like I was an a*s for doing this to them? I just wanted her to see how Ryker was. She deserved better. I should have just stayed out of it, but she would have found out sooner or later, so better sooner. When I arrived at school, I walked into our dorm room and it was empty as I suspected. She didn’t come home. I hope Ryker will be able to find her. I have always had a soft spot for her since Jade bullied her in high school for liking me. She was never obsessed with me or anything like most of the girls. For some reason, she makes me feel like I need to protect her.
