The Betas Fierce Little Sister

Chapter 4

**Phoenix’s POV**

“Mmmm” I groaned into the plush blanket; we were lying on.

…Wait!? This doesn’t feel like the blanket we brought with us. Did the guys bring us back to the packhouse? I thought as I sprung up into a sitting position to take in my surroundings. The waterfall? Are we still here?

“Guys????” I croaked out while looking at Kade and Connor's appearances, how are they both dressed in clothes that they didn’t bring with them? They should both be naked if they shifted back from their wolves in their sleep.

…What the heck is going on?! I put a hand on each of them and shook “guys, wake up! Something is not right. Wake up!”

The urgency in my words seemed to have been enough to wake Connor out of his deep sleep, “What, what do you mean? What’s wrong? Are you okay?!”

I pointed at his body and explained “you’re both dressed, how are you dressed if you guys were still in wolf form when we fell asleep?! And this isn’t the blanket I bought with us!”

He looked down at himself, confusion clear on his face, then his confusion turned to pure shock when he realized he was in fact dressed. Connor leaped over to where Kade was lying and we both shoved him, to wake his ass up out of his slumber. He woke up with a jump, “WHAT?! WHAT'S WRONG?!” he exclaimed as he got into a defensive position.

Once Kade was up, Connor and I began to take in our surroundings. And at the same time both our eyes landed on a form in the distance. “We aren’t alone,” Connor whispered over to Kade, keeping his eyes glued on the mysterious form before us.

“Who are you? What are you doing here? And why are you just watching us!” I yelled.

Kade protectively took a step in front of me, blocking me from whoever this stranger was, “why don’t you come into the light so we can see you?” he called out after me.

“NOW!” Connor growled out, as he took a menacing step forward.

“Be calm my children, I am no threat,” sang an angelic voice. A woman, in what seemed to be her thirties, stepped out from the shadows. Although there is no guarantee that is her current age, in the magical world, no one ever looks as old as they are. Taking in her appearance, she is a tall, slim woman, dressed in all white, with long dark hair cascading all around her. She is barefoot, hmm is she a she- wolf, then? Looking up into her eyes, I gasped, as I was met with two piercing silver orbs staring back at me.

Who is she?

I c****d my head to the side, trying to figure out who she could be… With the aura she is giving off, she must be someone of rank. Another pack, Luna? No, why would she be out in the woods, all alone, on anothers pack land?

I swear I could see stars twinkling in her eyes as she spoke, “Not quite my child”.

Did... did she just answer my thoughts?

She smiled at this thought and nodded her head.

WAIT! Stars… in... in… her eyes… “Moo- Moon Goddess?” I stuttered in awe.

“Yes, my daughter” she replied with a proud smile gracing her lips.

“Wow”, I heard both guys gasp. Kade relaxed his stance in front of me and moved to the side, realizing there was no danger, with it being our creator. I smiled over at him in thanks for always being ready to protect me… even if I don’t always need it.

Connor stepped forward and spoke, “Moon God… Goddess, I am so, so, sorry for growling at you… I- I didn’t know. I just knew I needed to prote---”

“It is no problem, at all, young Alpha. You were doing your job and proved you are on your way to being a true Alpha. Both of you. Kade, you will make an amazing Beta. Your first instinct was to protect, Phoenix.” The Moon Goddess answered with a knowing smile.

As the Goddess looked over her shoulder, she said, “I have a surprise for you.”

Following her gaze, two giant wolves walked out of the woods, directly behind her. The power they were giving off could be felt from where we stood.

“Blade?”

“Shadow?” Connor and Kade spoke at the same time.

"Yes, it is us. Was not expecting to see us, huh?"

"The Goddess thought we would all enjoy this. What do you guys think?"

"This is freaking awesome! What werewolf can actually say they met their wolf face to face?!" Kade shouted excitedly "get over here, Blade!"

"The Moon Goddess has another surprise, but first, do you guys want to know what it feels like to ride on our backs? This will be your one and only chance, ever... so what do you say?" Shadow asked with what sounded like a smirk if that's even possible.

Kade and Connor shared a look, shrugged their shoulders, and said, "Sure, it's not like there's anyone here to see us, either. Win, win."

I couldn't help the ear-splitting grin that formed on my face as I watched my two best friends climb onto their wolves' backs to go for a run! This was wild! This doesn't happen! It can't! It's physically impossible! Just another reason why they are going to be the most bad-ass Alpha and Beta pairing. They are so lucky to be able to experience this.

"Wait, what about Phoenix?" Kade asked.

"No! Do NOT worry about me. This is a chance for you and your wolves to bond! Take this opportunity!" I yelled back at him.

"Are you sure? I doubt Shadow would have any problem carrying both of us"

"No. Dammit! Just go!" I yelled.

The Moon Goddess exhaled a breath of air, "You children sure do swear a lot" she lectured us.

Yikes. Getting lectured by the Moon Goddess herself? Now, THAT is nerve-wracking.

"Sorry, Moon Goddess" we all replied at once.

She smiled in acknowledgment of our apology. She then turned her attention to the wolves and gave them a single nod. With that, they took off running with the guys on their backs, holding on for dear life.

"WOW, THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FEELING THAN BEING IN OUR MIND DURING A RUN!"

"THIS FEELS AMAAAZZINNNGG! SHADOW, CAN WE GO FASTER?!"

Both Wolves puffed their chests out with the compliments they were given. Then, like Connor asked, they picked up their speed to show their humans what they are made of. After 10 minutes of running around the forest, they slowly trotted back. However, when they returned, Blade and Shadow seemed to be keeping their distance from me. Hmm I wonder why? They both looked over at the Moon Goddess expectedly.

With a small smile she turned to face me, "the next surprise, my dear, is for you."

"Me? Huh?"

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash of movement, by the time I looked, it was gone. I peered over at the Goddess and c****d my head to the side. Her smile grew larger, and she shook her head.

"Ugh. She’s really not going to tell me what's going on, is she? Do you guys know?" I linked over to Connor and Kade. Both shook their heads no.

And then out of my peripheral vision I saw the flash of red, again. Whatever it is, it's moving fast, trying to confuse me, its like, it wants me to track it. Fine, then. I slowly closed my eyes... thinking back to everything the guys taught me, and focused on my senses. Letting them track the movement in the woods. This time I sensed where it was going to stop, so I spun around and fixed my gaze on the spot where I knew it would stop.

"Holy crap..." I exhaled.

A massive red wolf slipped out from behind the trees, the aura it was giving off... this wolf was strong.

It's like I was in a trance. I was frozen in place; I couldn't do anything but track it with my eyes. It was approaching me with slow, long steps… The way it was looking at me… as if it was begging me to realize something. But what?

"Blade! Let me off! What are you doing?! We need to protect her!" I heard Kade yell from somewhere behind me, but his words were barely heard.

"Shadow, move! What are you doing? You're an Alpha, DAMMIT! She needs us!"

“No. She does not need us. How about the two of you have some faith in her, for once, and let her deal with this on her own? This is for her to deal with. Not us.” Shadow growled at Connor and Kade.

While I was distracted from listening to Connor and Shadow argue, the red wolf lunged at me. She knocked me on my ass and had me pinned down. Her lips slightly lifted over her sharp, white teeth, and she lowly growled at me. Even though she was growling, it was like her eyes were telling me something. But what?

Wait SHE, the wolf is a SHE?! With red fur… and eyes that… that reflect my own… “Are… are you… my wolf?” I questioned in utter astonishment.

An approving grumble came out of her chest, as she moved in to lick my face repeatedly.

“Yes, my child, this is your Wolf, her name is Nova.” The Goddess spoke, “She has been dying to meet you. As you may have noticed, she is a spitfire just like you” she mused.

“No way, her wolf how?!” Kade mumbled.

“humph... dammit, Shadow”

“Ouch!”

“What the hell, Shadow?!”

“Blade, why did you guys just drop us like that!” Kade reprimanded his wolf.

However, they were already taking off at full speed towards Nova and didn’t hear a single thing that was said. Blade tackled her and knocked her off Phoenix. While he had her pinned underneath him, Shadow trotted over and nuzzled her neck and Blade proceeded to lick her face. Nova was practically purring at the affection she was receiving from the Alpha and Beta Wolf. It was clear, all three Wolves were happy to see each other, just as their human counterparts have a great bond.

“Woow… look at those two dominant males acting like lovesick puppies over her” Kade whispered, as he and Connor made their way over to where I sat.

With no more than a side eye, both Wolves glanced at him and let out a warning growl at his words, “we are not lovesick puppies, we feel the same pull towards her that you two feel towards Phoenix. Imagine what you look like to the pack if this is how you feel about your Wolves,” Blade huffed in annoyance.

“Okay, boys, settle down. Let’s all just enjoy the moment. Although… there must be a reason for all this, Moon Goddess? I doubt you orchestrated this just so we could meet our Wolves”

“You are correct, let’s sit and talk about what it is I brought you three here for,” she answered with a proud smile, “as you may all have noticed, the three of you… including your wolves, are all very close and that is my doing. I created a special bond between the three of you. However, I did not force it, the three of you had to form your friendships on your own. Once those formed, then the bond I gifted you kicked in.” she paused to let us take that all in.

“When you get older, you will notice the bond strengthens and develops in new ways. As you noticed, tonight, Phoenix, the three of you can feel each other’s feelings. That is due to the bond. Shadow's appearance kicked it into effect; however, it will not be fully developed until Nova emerges. This brings us to why I introduced you all. I am going to grant you, Nova, early. The two of you will not be able to shift just yet, but her presence will be there in your mind. She will help guide you, as Shadow and Blade will guide Connor and Kade. In turn, this will help strengthen your bond.”
