Chapter 5 Back in the comfort of her Uncle Wilson’s truck, Erin drove up the big hill going out of Estonoa toward Randall. Both she and Jimmy let out a huge sigh as soon as they passed the cheery oval sign declaring Estonoa on the Clinch one of Virginia’s Hometowns. The music had stopped abruptly enough to leave Erin’s ears ringing and humming, like a radio station with dead air. All the minutes and hours and days and nights full of stress left her all at once, and she slumped against the springy seat. She gripped the hard steering wheel tight to keep herself awake. If they had to go anywhere else, Jimmy would have to adapt to her old three-on-the-tree tank instead of his Prius and do the driving. After all, he’d probably slept just fine for the last couple of weeks, while she and ever
