Adrian led me back into the castle. The sky was streaked with crimson as night started to descend and I was loathe to leave it behind. Who knew how long it would be before I was allowed to be free like this again? I took one last deep inhale of breath filling my lungs with the precious fresh air.
Adrian c****d a brow at me. “Are you finished? I’m not taking you to the gallows.”
I gave a half-hearted shrug. “It’s what I feel like is happening. Who knows when I’ll be out in the open like this.”
He nodded at me and ran a hand through his dark hair as he sighed. “You’re a lot of trouble, do you realize that?”
I frowned at the assertion. “Excuse me?”
