The patches of gold had returned to Jacob’s eyes and his breathing had picked up once more. Each inhale came with a deep rumble from his chest as his fists clenched at his sides. “Why are you so upset?” He snarled as he focused on me. I sat down on the bed as if on command as he stood up from his chair. In three quick strides, he towered above me. “Why am I upset?” he might have repeated my words, but the inflection in them was far darker than mine had been. “Have you really not figured it out yet?” his demand came with him leaning closer to me until I could feel his hot breath on my skin. “You said earlier that you couldn’t help yourself.” My voice had turned soft as if I was afraid of incurring his wrath. At the moment I was more worried about just how close he was getting and how my h
