It took me a minute to realize I was on the ground in the dirt. Panic struck me and I looked around for my companion. I heard a neigh from high above me and tilting my head back watched as Penny flew in large figure 8’s as he kept me in his eyesight. There was a lump on the back of my head that was already quite tender. I spit out blood that had pooled in my mouth and got to my feet.
A chorus of low growls behind me made me pause. I glanced over my shoulder and I saw the beasts I had observed from up high in safety. There were so many of them I couldn’t possibly count. Eyes like crimson all focused on me. Their lips were raised in a threat and I chose to stay still. The giant one that had knocked me down was approaching and the others parted like a sea to let him through.
