At the front door, Aaron pulls me into another fierce hug. “I love you.” “I love you, too.” I kiss him one last time before opening the door for him. I hope he remembers how much I love him when he gets back from work this evening. I have a feeling he isn’t going to like me very much then. I know what I have to do now—the only thing I can do, short of telling someone and I don’t want to do that, he’d never forgive me for that—and I’m counting on the fact he loves me as much as I love him to get us through this. We can get through it, I know we can. I watch from the front window as his truck backs out of our driveway.
