Chapter 1
It was a bright summer morning when Taylor Preston, an orphan with her baby sister, came to live in the Blue Delilah Orphanage in Alabama. Having lost her parents in the brutal fire that struck her home, she was left under the guardianship of her vindictive uncle, who gave her away to the orphanage.  Losing her parents at a tender age of three, Taylor never realized what misfortunes had befallen over her. The Preston surname was the only legacy that she was left with, which didn’t last long either when her uncle deliberately registered her with a different name, Taylor Meyer. Life had sure played an ugly game with the little girl, but like every happy ending, she found a silver lining amidst the clouds of gloom. “Hello! My name is Zachery, you can call me Zac for short.  What’s yours?” a young lad enquired as she sat idle on a swing. “Taylor…” she replied softly and failed to meet his eyes. “Did your mamma sent you to live here amongst us?” he asked curiously. “No...” she whispered. “Oh, then it must be your father, right?” he stated, and got the same reply. “Oh, so you’re like me then. I lost both of them,” he sighed and scratched his head. “Do you remember how they looked?” he added and wondered whom she belonged to, because Taylor looked unlike the destitute who were usually bought to Blue Delilah. “No…” she shook her head and cringed as a faint memory of a woman and man, dressed in rich clothes, dancing together against the backdrop of bright lights and music, passed her mind. Zac gave her a thoughtful look and snapped his fingers. “Wait here, I’ll be right back!” he said and rushed away to get something. Taylor waited and gazed up at the clouds before he returned and grabbed her attention. “Here, how about this as a picture to remember your parents? I cut it from a magazine to remember mine, but you can have it,” he said and handed her a picture of a bride and groom. Taylor ran her nimble fingers across the picture and for the first time looked up at him. Cracking a smile, she rose from the swing and hugged him in delight. From there on began a friendship that blossomed into love as the years rolled and the two realized they couldn’t live without each other. Times changed, but one thing that remained constant was the picture Taylor had kept safely with her. It wasn’t the faces in the picture that attracted her, but their attire. The white wedding gown and the groom’s raven black suit captivated her fantasies. Growing up seeing the picture had aroused a desire in her to dress up like a bride and get married someday. Needless to mention, it was Zac whom she always saw as the ideal husband for her, because she loved him madly, but Zac had other plans. He was ambitious unlike Taylor whose only dream was to walk the aisle as a bride and settle down with him.  He often found her dream superfluous and discouraged it stating that she better focused on means to improving their lifestyle. No matter how much he tried, she still held on to her dreams. Standing still with the mop and bucket by her side as usual, she admired the mannequin that was adorned in an exquisite wedding gown. She feasted her eyes on the details and imagined how she would look in it when all of a sudden the boutique owner’s shrieks distracted her. “How dare you teach me how to run my business? You’re fired!”  Camilla, the uptown fashion designer of Miami, Florida, yelled at the manager “Nobody can work with a despicable woman like you! You can’t fire me, coz I quit,” The employee balled her fist and clarified. “Be my guest, just take that snotty attitude of yours out of my boutique! I can employee hundreds of  manager  who are ten times better than you,”  Camilla frowned. “Ya right, talk about hundreds!  You will never find even one manager as suitable as me. You don’t know my worth, Miss Camila Cresto,” she challenged her and crossed her arms. “Oh please, the job I hired you for is no rocket science! Even a janitor can manage it smoothly, oh you wanted to know your worth right?” Camilla wrinkled her nose and darted her eyes across the store before stopping at Taylor. “Hey, you there with the mop. What’s your name?” She enquired and caught Taylor off guard. “I’m Taylor, ma’am,” She gulped and adjusted her uniform. “Whatever! From now on you will be my new store manager,” Camilla announced and stunned all the employees in the boutique. Taylor gasped in astonishment and dropped her mop while the ex manager hurled abuses in repulsion before security was called in to drag her away. Alright, everyone back to work!” Camilla clapped her hands and sported a calm look on her face. “And you Miss whatever, go and change into something more fashionable,” she glanced at Taylor and walked past her without realizing that she had made the young lady’s day by promoting her to store manager. That day, Taylor was giver her paycheck in advance and was asked to start managing the boutique. Ecstatic, she thought of surprising Zac and picked a present for him on her way back home. Crossing the garage aligned with broken cars, she made her way through the heaps of tyres , spare parts and paint before approaching Zac. “Sleeping at work again, huh?” She whispered in his ear and startled him. “Dang! You scared me there for a second. What took you so long to come home?” waking up with a jerk,  he rubbed his eyes and flexed his arm. Working as a mechanic by day and a street racer at night was strenuous for him, yet he managed it somehow to earn a living for them. “I didn’t know you would be home tonight? Weren’t you supposed to be out racing,” she questioned and clinged to him. “Nope, the cops came and stalled it again,” he sighed and caressed her face. “Oh , well. Cheer up. I’ve got some great news for you! But first…” she closed his eyes and placed the present on his lap. “What’s this?” He arched his brows and examined the package. “You won’t believe what happened today! Camilla Cresto, the style diva herself, promoted me to store manager,” she announced and blew his mind. “Honey, that’s  amazing! I knew you always deserved more,” he gloated in happiness and scooped her up in his arms. “Maybe…anyway, open this and tell me how you like it?” she insisted as he put her down. “I got my paycheck in advance and….” She hadn’t finished when he frowned. “Wait you used up that money for this?” he paused and gave her a sarcastic look. “I’m sorry, but I was so excited I couldn’t resist buying something  expensive for you,” she smiled sheepishly and kept her fingers crossed, hoping that he would like her choice. Irritated by her stupidity, he lethargically opened the package and widened his eyes in disbelief. “What the F is this? You spent all that money on this suit!” he felt appalled and flung it away. “You know how every penny counts! If you really wanted to spend it, you could have just bought a new gear or something useful for me…not this s**t business suit,” he scolded her while she inclined her head in disappointment. “It’s not a business suit…it’s for our wedding…” she softly replied and irked him more. “Oh God! Not again,” he did a facepalm and turned around. “I know the wedding is a long way to go, but I’m doing my bit to save as much as I can for our big day,” she explained with her gaze over the floor while he remained silent in anger. “You really didn’t like it?” she asked nervously and played with the lose strings of her sweater. “Return this s**t and bring back the money,” he retorted and broke her heart. Feeling insulted, she pushed his tools off the desk and darted straight upstairs to their bedroom. Sulking in silence she held her pillow tight and pondered over why he was so dead against getting married. She shed a tear when he walked in and grabbed her attention. “Am I looking fat in this?” he asked and amused her. Taylor turned around and broke into a smile when she found him dressed in the black wedding suit. Excited, she rushed towards him and felt the softness of the fabric over his arms. She swore he looked as suave as a billionaire. “You look like a billionaire, Zac…” she whispered with a glint of delight in her eyes. “Thank you! It won’t be long before I actually become one,” he smiled and kissed her head.  “Now that your wish of seeing me like this is fulfilled, return it to the store and bring back the money, alright?” he pushed a lock of hair behind her ear and sounded stern. “Okay?” he added and looked at her doubtfully. “Okay…” Taylor smiled unwillingly and lowered her gaze while he changed into his usual clothes. As they lay in bed that night, a fleeting thought passed her mind and she couldn’t help but ask Zac about it. “Seasons change, time flies, years roll…do you think we’ll ever marry some day?” she asked as they watched the stars sparkling above through the roof window. “Of course we will marry someday, and trust me we will celebrate it on a grand scale,” he promised her and curled his arm around her. “We’ll have champagnes, music, lights, A listers as guests and photographers to record every moment of that day,” he added and moved his hands animatedly while Taylor merely sighed. “I don’t know about that. My idea of an ideal wedding is much simpler. I wish to be taken far away to a countryside cathedral, where we can celebrate our moment of bliss in privacy. Just you and me, like the first time met, remember?” she whispered and reminded him about their start to friendship in the backyard of Blue Delilah. “Oh please! Just why did you have to bring that subject again? You know how disturbing it gets every time I am reminded of those horrible years,” he frowned and expressed his resentment towards the past. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you,” Taylor turned on her side and stroked his forehead. “You know how much I love you, right?” she glided her hand across the panes of his toned bare chest. Zac placed his hand over hers and stared into her eyes intensely. “Of course my love, that goes without saying,” he pulled her closer and brushed his lips against her. Pushing her long blonde hair to one side, he ran his hand over her slender shoulder and toyed with the strings of her negligee. “How many times must I remind you to sleep naked with me?” he struggled to slip it off her body while Taylor giggled. “But it’s winter…”she protested and gracefully took it off before sitting naked like a mermaid by his side. Zac ran his gaze all over her and smirked as he sat up right. “Winters hardly matter, my love.  As long as I’m next to you, I’ll keep us warm all night…you should be knowing that better than anyone else,” he said and leaned down to feed on her tender breast. Taylor closed her eyes as he teased her n****e with his skilled tongue. She gasped when it turned hard and he tugged it with his teeth. Throwing her head back, she arched her back to give him better access to her assets. Zac  smacked his lips and reached for her neck. Feeling her it with his strong hands, he glided them together, down her midriff before parting towards her hips.  Cupping her butt cheek, he placed her on his lap and gently suckled her other breast. Taylor moaned and trailed her finely painted nails down his abs before grabbing his manhood and slipping it inside. Swaying their hips to the rhythm of pleasure, they made love before collapsing in each other’s arms.
