CHAPTER TWOAunt Mary set off early in the morning and told Carina to treat the house as her own. As soon as she was alone, she began to explore the garden. She loved gardens and thought that her aunt’s house, which went back to medieval times, boasted a garden which was almost a dream. ‘It is entrancing,’ she told herself, as she stopped beside a very large tree and saw, as she looked up, that there were nests in it. After the garden she explored the fields which held her aunt’s horses. They were as fine, if not finer than her own. She spent a long time admiring them.
